Sono trascorse alcune settimane dal vibrante concerto dei fratelli “Daniele e Tommaso Scannapieco” ed eccomi in compagnia di Pietro, come in occasione di altri significativi eventi, nuovamente in auto alla volta del “Music Art” di Napoli per assistere alla serata di venerdì 10 gennaio, in cui la storica Associazione napoletana ha programmato la performance live dell’ammaliante voce della cantante partenopea Simona De Rosa.
L’evento, fortemente voluto dall’instancabile direttore artistico Dott. Peppino Reale e dal presidente Prof. Ennio Forte, ha portato al proscenio della location di Vico Santa Maria della Neve 65 un quartetto capitanato dalla brillante personalità jazzistica di Simona De Rosa, affiancata da Michele Di Martino al pianoforte, Antonio De Luise al contrabbasso ed Elio Coppola alla batteria.
La dinamica estensione e la rilevante musicalità vocale della solare Simona hanno coinvolto il pubblico in sala, trascinandolo già dalla struttura d’apertura in una carrellata di standards d’oltreoceano alternati ad alcune pagine della “canzone classica” della nostra amata città. - Neapolis Jazz

"I first heard Simona De Rosa at The Garage jazz club in Greenwich Village. Simona was the lovely woman sitting at the bar beside me. Part way through the band’s set, the leader called her up to join them.
With no vocal warm up, she jumped right into some riffs, including scat, a difficult vocal technique that involves singing improv melodies and rhythms. Ella Fitzgerald was a master of scat. A highlight of De Rosa’s impromptu performance was Blackbird, which had everyone in the restaurant putting forks, knives, spoons and wine glasses down to stare and listen, followed by thunderous applause. Take one part Neapolitan chanteuse, pepper it with some impressive scat and what you have is Simona De Rosa, a passionate and soulful jazz vocalist from Naples, Italy.
Born into a supportive and music-loving family, Simona started playing piano at ten, well before the formal lessons which led her to graduate studies in New York City, where she earned a Masters degree in Jazz Vocal Performance from Queens College in 2014.
She has established herself as one of the most sought after jazz vocalists in Naples
and guest voice lecturers at many of the city’s music schools while playing festivals and venues across Europe including the Capri Jazz Fest (IT), Voicingers (Poland), Alatri Int'l Jazz Fest (IT); and the Napoli Jazz Fest (IT).
