"The Bedroom Philosopher @ The Rocket Room, Perth (27/08/10)"

"Opening for the evening were Simone And Girlfunkle, whose set was a wonderful treat of folk pop and femininity. Their songs about romance, heartache and Cliff Richard very sweetly entranced the Rocket Room and by the time their set was over the whole audience were eating out of the palms of their hands. The beautiful harmonies of Gabrielle Lammers and Bridget Turner were especially noteworthy, and the accompaniment of clarinet and melodica from Erin Williams added unique elements to Simone and Girlfunkel’s sound also." - Faster Louder

"Holly Throsby"

"Simone and Girlfunkle are always an engaging outfit and found a new friend in Throsby, who later stated that she is a Simon and Garfunkel fan. "And now I'm a Simone and Girlfunkle fan too,"she gushed. A lovely seal of approval." - The Wire Mag March 2011

“...the girls play breezy, dreamy pop tunes with the kind of melodies that drill themselves in to your head and set up camp for weeks” David Craddock, X-Press

"Simply beautiful and charming," Michael Antonis, Space ship News.

"Great puns aside, this is really sweet folk," Dom Alessio, Triple J

Simone and Girlfunkle have spent the first 5 months of 2012 slowly recording their debut album in a self-built bedroom studio in Northbridge. Pushed and excited they have been experimenting in taking the harmony pop
genre to new limits. Both sweet and mournful tales of heartbreak and long romances are dripping delicately through the walls of their old house.
They are longing to find an ear.

2012 promises to be a huge year for the band, with the recent release of gorgeous new single 'Blown Into The Wind', receiving a wide national radio airplay and Xpress Magazine likening it to a "... wistful and breezy
like a big ol’ heart filled with light and warmth. They make me think of driving a long country road on a cold sunny day, where the light seems brighter than possible..."

With music featured on mtv’s comedy “Awkward” and Australian series “Winners and Losers” and backed up by a strong, harmony laden showcased at this years Perth Fringe Festival to stunning reviews, Simone and Girlfunkle are excited for the release of their debut album in August 2012 and tour nationally in Sept/Oct.

Since their first EP release in 2011 and their nominations in the 2011 West Australian industry awards for “Best commercial Pop Act”, "Best Bass Player" and "Best Female Vocalist" categories, they have had the pleasure to support many great acts including, Holly Throsby, Old Man River and Owl Eyes. A testament to their live show, the band has been asked to perform live on SBS television for the Ethnic Business Awards and to open on Record Store day for Gurrumul. They were delighted to be showcasing artists at the One Movement Festival MUSEXPO and this year at the WAMIs, reviewed on the Triple J Home and Hosed Blog "I came for the pun and stayed for the gorgeous tunes," Dom Alessio.

Simone and Girlfunkle really love what they do and would welcome any opportunity to get their music heard and collect great experiences.
