Alien Stole My Whiskey (2013)



is a Singaporean guitarist, singer,
songwriter, and producer known for his work with progressive rock band Zero
Sequence, Shirlyn & The UnXpected and most recently with his debut solo
instrumental album Alien Stole My Whiskey (2013). Till date, the album has
acclaimed praises from many notable Singapore musicians including jazz pianist
Jeremy Monteiro, guitarist Addy Cradle Rasidi, singer-songwriter Patrick
Chng, and keyboard maestro Mayuni Omar.

Since 2013, The Simon Yong Band have performed at the 10th
Mosaic Music Festival, a sold out show at BluJaz Cafe, being an opening
act for The Iron Maidens, toured Kuala Lumpur, headlined 9 shows in
Tokyo and Osaka in 2014, and another 9 shows in Tokyo the following year
in 2015.

He has had 3 releases with Zero Sequence:
a 7-track EP Personality Number 9 (1999), a single Eternal Damnation of
Liars (2001), and a full-length concept album Flight of Transcendence (2008)
which has received rave reviews on newspapers and numerous magazines, and has also
been nominated for Best Rock Song, Best Guitar Riff, and Best Genre
Bending-Mindboggling-Out-Of-This-World-Track in Malaysia's's
inaugural Independent Music Awards.

With almost 20 fruitful years of live
playing experiences, Simon has performed in many important music festivals in
Singapore: SINGfest 2008 (Fort Canning), Baybeats 2009 and 2013 (Esplanade),
Ignite! Music Festival 2010 (Republic Polytechnic), Mosaic Music Festival
(2014), and in front of an insane full-house crowd at the Singapore Indoor
Stadium opening for Irish outfit The Script (2013). He has also performed
overseas: MIDEM 2012 Cannes (France), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Brisbane
(Australia), and New York (USA).

The famed guitar dribbler and vocalist
performs full-time with Shirlyn and the UnXpected, one of the most popular acts
in Singapore. Simon is also a proud endorsee of ESP guitars and Audio-Technica,
and has also work with some of Singapores most amazing singers such as
Singapore Idol (2004) season 1 finalists Maia Lee, Singapore Idol (2006) season
2 runner-up Jonathan Leong, the soulful and talented Vanessa Fernandez, Lily
Anna Nuris, Mathilda DSilva, singer-songwriter sensation Shirlyn Tan, Inch
Chua, Surath Godfrey, Gareth Fernandez, and Esther Low.

Other than performing, Simon has conducted numerous guitar clinics. He was also
one of the judges at the Singapore Polytechnic Crescendo 2007 singing
competition final. An influential figure in the music industry, Simon has
appeared on numerous radio shows - Power98FM, Live93.5FM, and 98.7FM for
interviews and live acoustic performances. He is currently working on his second solo album.
