"Simple Machines: Wayward ft. I M U R"

Mesmerizing his listeners with catchy and incredibly unique electronica is Vancouver’s Amine Bouzaher, better known as SIMPLE MACHINES. With the use of instruments such as live-looped guitar, violin, keyboard, and bass, Amine beautifully ties together his orchestral sound with hip-hop infused beats that contain sounds you have never heard before.
On his latest single, “Wayward” w/ Wobbelix ft. I M U R, Bouzaher starts us off with a soothing guitar that frames the soft and angelic vocals of I M U R, before evolving the simplistic beat into a rich and vibrant pulse animated by hidden melodies and dissonant percussion.
The complexity of SIMPLE MACHINES’ music is something to be experienced by all, as Amine has developed an aesthetic that is fresh, innovate, and contemplative. His songs carry a certain ambiance that allows its listeners to get lost in the rhythm of his intricate soundscapes and precise instrumentation.

"Fresh Faves Batch 204"

Play me downtempo electronica fused with real instruments, and I’m usually cast away to some balmy island watching the sun set while emptying a pitcher of something deliciously deadly. The influences of Simple Machines are as clear as day here, so fans of Bonobo or Lapalux will love this, and Gilles Peterson should be all over it. Count me amongst their number.

Interesting, then, that Enouément is the work of a single person, Vancouver-based Amine Bouzaher, who live-loops classical guitar, violin, bass and keyboard on top of those intricate, understated beats. Gigs-wise, lots in Canada at the moment, but there are a few more tracks on his Soundcloud page should this have whetted your appetite. - Fresh on the Net

"Sofar Sounds marks its first anniversary in Vancouver"

Thursday’s performance marked the one-year anniversary of Sofar in Vancouver (the shows generally take place once a month), and it didn’t disappoint. Sofar prides itself on spotting and showcasing promising artists on the rise and in the case of Amine Bouzaher (aka Simple Machines), the organization was on the money. Having spotted him play at a coffee shop, the two Sofar reps couldn’t contain their excitement in bringing Bouzaher on stage.

Bouzaher started his set by explaining that he uses a loop machine to record sounds and then play over them in a funny bit of standup. He then proceeded to use the next half an hour showing us his talent with the ukulele, guitar, and a stripped-down violin.

With his man bun and songs with names like “Sonder”, Bouzaher captured the hearts of the crowd pretty quickly and it was hard to come to terms with the fact that one man was creating all the intricate sounds we were hearing. - Georgia Straight

Bio

SIMPLE MACHINES is Vancouver based multi-instrumentalist and electronic producer Amine Bouzaher. Like the harmonogram depicted in his logo, SIMPLE MACHINES' performances begin from a single sonic strand. Live-looped guitar, violin, bass and keyboard are combined with sultry, hip-hop influenced beats to create performable arrangements that would otherwise be impossible without a full ensemble.

From the humble origins of a violin, a classical guitar and a loop pedalSIMPLE MACHINES has honed his live execution and aesthetic. Drawing on diverse influences, including IDM and hip hop artists like Bonobo, Fourtet and JDilla as well as live-loop artists like Bink Beats and French Kiwi Juice, SIMPLE MACHINES fuses live instrumental performance with downtempo, electronic production.

As well as performing recently at the Vancouver RAW Signature Showcase and at 4/20 Vancouver Celebration with local future-bass duo, I M U R, SIMPLE MACHINES' compositions have also been used in independent feature film "N A L O: I Ate the Sea".
