BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION ON JP OLSON  

Many elements have fused to propel Simply J.P. to the pinnacle of prominence which she has now attained. Beyond all else, she credit’s the spiritual environment of her youth and adulthood as the propelling force in her life.
JP has used her God-bestowed gifts as a musician in coordinating and conducting gospel music workshops and lectures throughout the United States. On her mission, JP has used her gift to lift, inspire, cheer and bring hope to all she comes in contact with. This action-oriented servant has been most successful in using the instrument of her voice to bring together a fragmented world in perfect harmony.

JP considers her music ministry as God’s fulfillment of a broader mission to increase her effectiveness in His vineyard. With no reservation, she shares her gifts with other aspiring vocalists via coaching and teaching vocal breathing techniques and control, as well as personal expression. JP holds both Bachelors and Master’s degrees from the University of Memphis. As an adjunct, she also teaches music appreciation, easy-listening jazz standards and pop songs. Her workshops are designed to help vocalists to easily develop their ability to sing better by providing tips for anatomy, diction, voice production and exercises for singing to include breathing techniques, developing confidence as well as protecting the vocalists’ vocal chords.

Among the varied activities in the sphere of music, JP’s workshops have been conducted in both the United States and internationally. She has toured with such notable acts as Etta James, Michael Bolton, the late Phyllis Hyman, George Benson, Bonnie Raitt and other and has also directed workshops at LeMoyne-Owen College, Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, Hamilton High School, Nashville, Tennessee Performing Arts Group; Harlem Jazz Organization of New York, New York; New York Teen Gospel Workshop; Trinity Lutheran Church in Wisconsin; St. Patrick Catholic Church; University of Memphis Gospel Group; Tennessee State Jazz & Gospel Choir of Nashville; Christchurch, Auckland and Nelson, New Zealand; Melbourne and Sydney, Australia; and the Netherlands - Antilles (Curacao). In addition, JP has performed on stage with Amy Grant, Doug Stone, Ronnie Milsap, Billie Ray Cyrus, Anne Murray, Charlie Pride, Willie Nelson as well as Tony Backhouse and the Melbourne Gospel Singers amongst many notable artists and has traveled the world performing. JP’s membership affiliations include: GMA, BMI, CMA, IFCO, NARAS and NABFEME. In September 2007, JP released her CD entitled, “Simply J.P. Live In New Zealand and Australia "A Taste of Jazz" Simply JP - Just As I Am - Favorite Hymns of Faith.”
