Simply Rust

Kent and Dave first met over thirty years ago in middle school. Kent’s parents, both doctors of music, moved to Oregon from California. That first day Kent and Dave jammed together - playing Baby Elephant Walk and the Theme from Charley Brown. The rest is history.
While in college, together with current guitarist Bill Dutton, they formed MasterWork - a contemporary Christian rock band. MW enjoyed several years of success - opening for national recording artists David Meace and Randy Stonehill. They released a very popular album titled Calling Me - which was acclaimed by Portland radio icon Steve Naganuma.
During the last several years, Kent has taken his music to a higher level; working as the music pastor at Cascade Park Baptist Church. Patrick and Dave expanded their musical experiences by working with local jazz pianist Craig Bidando and gospel recording artist Georgene Rice.
During this time - Bill continued to "wow" the free world with his smokin solos and melodic mastering of the guitar.
Re-named Simply Rust (because these four guys are now in their 40’s) the band has just finished recording a new CD - engineered and co-produced by, two-time Dove Award winner, Shawn Lewis. Although still firm in their beliefs, these new songs reflect the heart-ache of lost love, “Still Inside my Head”; the trials of life “No More Tonight”; and the fun of friendship, “Constant Friend”.
Simply Rust has also worked up some fantastic cover tunes - showing just who their influences are - and that “these guys are players!” Their short list includes songs by Peter Gabriel, Sting, Dire Straights, Chick Corea, The Police, David Bowie, Tears for Fears, The Beatles, Level 42 and Steely Dan.
