Melodrama is a liquid emotion, one that swells and crashes like a hungry sea pawing at the coastline. It's no wonder melodramatic music is hard to get right: an inch too far and you're in theatrical territory (or hair metal); not far enough and it comes off desperate (or hair metal). Happily, London producer Sinah's remix of Memphis Industries signed singer/musican Barbarossa [pictured] hits the mark square between the eyes. In her hands, Turbine is all funked off bass and pinball, post-dubsteppy tones - the perfect stormy setting for Barbarossa's echoing, emotion-wracked falsetto.

Memphis Industries will release Barbarossa's new album 'Bloodlines' on 5th August 2013. Catch Barbarossa and Sinah at The Waiting Room in London on 6th August 2013. - Dummy

German pop master Sinah (pronounced Xena) will debut her 4 track EP titled ‘Nobody Knows SINAH’ this June, released via her own label ZNA records which features the fantastic track of the same name ‘Nobody Knows’.

Wanting to challenge herself and get out of her comfort zone, Sinah spent a year living in Brooklyn, New York working as a session musician where she developed an appreciation for Rap and Hip Hop culture which added to her musical development. Having moved there at the age of 18 she experienced a series of misfortunes but making only 2 dollars when busking didn't make her deter her ambition and passion for music making.

Although she still has dreams of joining Greenpeace, she’s currently living in London forming a band around her music. It was here that she’s taken influence from electronic musicians including Nicholas Jaar, Lorn and Bonobo.

The EP is written without following a specific genre, but was based on the ethos of simply producing what felt right for her at the time, whether it included acoustic or heavy electronic, pop or experimental. Nobody Knows Sinah is definitely a record to get excited about.

Got tipped off to Sinah by a mutual friend – small world indeed. Turns out London-resident Sinah Blohberger, who wants to be pronounced Xena – however that works? – actually produces quite rad electro/ambient triphop. Her new (debut) EP entitled Nobody Knows Sinah is out for free on bandcamp. I suggest you get over there and snag one of the precious free downloads so that her next EP can be called Everybody Knows Sinah – HA, see what I did there?!

Berlin born SINAH has released her debut 4 track EP titled Nobody Knows SINAH, mixing electronic pop and experimental sounds.

SINAH(pronounced Zena)spent a year living in Brooklyn at the age of 18, working as a session musician where she grew a love for Hip Hop and Rap music. Now living in London where she has found her distinct sound, SINAH has taken influence from electronic musicians such as Nicholas Jaar and Bonobo, with her EP showing a tentative exploration of this genre and experimentation with others.

In her title track Nobody Knows, SINAH’s lyrics are engaging and fragile, almost a cry for help, ‘I escaped from home, so no one can see me…and nobody knows who I am.’ Her soft, volatile vocals blended together with heavy electronic thuds and a whimsical piano.

Releasing her EP via her own label ZNA records, SINAH is someone to be talking about. - 1883 Magazine

We were told about a new artist called SINAH not too long ago. She immediately caught our attention with ‘Nobody Knows’, a composition of delicate instrumentation and vocals that somehow manage to be composed and fiercely intense at the same time. After downloading her new EP for free on Bandcamp at the beginning of the week, we were totally sold. Her sound’s a sort of futuristic deep house that could be lumped in with her contemporaries doing the same sort of think (i.e. Grimes), but SINAH is much less of a gimmick than artists to whom critics may be tempted to compare her.

We very much like this chick and she seems like an intelligent, well-travelled lady (having come from Berlin and now lives in good old London, via a brief stint in New York). SO, we thought she’d be the perfect artist to do one of PlanetNotion’s moodboards. Here’s what inspires SINAH.
- Planet Notion

Berlin born and London based artist Sinah presents a mix of her very own bedroom anthems. A collection of the best new electronic music, it includes the likes of Jamie XX, Lorn, and Holy Other, who are very much Sinah’s contemporaries.

Pronounced Xena, like the Warrior Princess, Sinah belongs to that group of remarkable young musicians who are pushing electronic music forward, drawing on a love of hip hop and blending it with the dance music to create something altogether new. Not content to simply make music, like Nicolas Jaar she has her own label, ZNA Records, and has just released her superb first EP, Nobody Know Sinah, for the very reasonable price of £0.00 (download if for free here).

Here is what she has to say about her mix:

"I decided to go for a good-mood mix, even though the songs aren't particularly happy, they groove and resonate with me in an uplifting way. I chose some of my favourite tracks, whether they come from new artists or ones that have been around for a while - their songs are timeless to me.

Feel free to jump around to it or at least swing from side to side…"

SINAH (pronounced Xena) is the moniker of London-based Sinah Blohberger. We’re pretty sure that a whole lot of poeple with an affinity for gorgeous ambient pop will know about her and her music in the near future. Wanna be one of the first? Simply hit play to get familiar! - Hugo Boss Blog

Youtube can be a total vortex of time in our contemporary lives. While some might entertain themselves with cat videos, others – like me – spend a great amount of free time watching music videos, acoustic versions, remixes and so on. It was navigating through the almost always awesome recommendations of Youtube’s side bar that I discovered the SINAH. Well, not exactly, but I’ll explain: lately I’ve really been enjoying Alt-J’s music, and, after watching one of their videos, I stumbled upon a stunning remix of “Breezeblocks”, the best one I’ve listened to yet.

There was little to discover more about SINAH – an artist new to me – in the video, which only listed the website. My curiosity led me to find SINAH‘s own music, just as well crafted as the remix that led to my discovery. But there’s more to SINAH‘s persona than just her music: all the elements surrounding it – from photographs to the typography – are just as sharp.

It was this past June that SINAH released her debut four-track EP, Nobody Knows SINAH. And while it’s true that nobody knew her before, we expect things to change fast thanks to the beautiful EP. Born in Berlin, she is now based in London, and says that the city, particularly the electronic music, has influenced her, highlighting the likes of Nicholas Jaar, Lorn and Bonobo.

Before her London experience, she had grown musically with rap and hip-hop during a year working as a session musician in Brooklyn. From this introduction, it’s easy to draw conclusions as to her style: lyrics are of a weighty importance as they drift along spacey electronic backgrounds. The soft-but-strong duality present in her music will no doubt capture the attention from those interested in bands like The xx or Purity Ring.

Bellow, you can stream the track “Nobody Knows” and watch the dramatic video for “Harder”. Also, don’t miss the free download for the debut EP available in her Bandcamp page. - Listen Before You Buy

SINAH (that’s pronounced Xena, as in warrior princess) is a London-by-way-of-Berlin songstress whose mysterious, frayed electronica’s been compared to Bonobo and Nicolas Jaar. You know, the kind of off-kilter, jazz-minded white noise that feels like the hour before dawn, just as your high peaks. In “Nobody Knows,” SINAH’s girlie, ghostly voice is hypnotizing, riding trembling piano chords and drippy beats, static swipes and a mechanical heartbeat. Pretty, weird, pretty weird stuff below, and on her 4-track EP of the same name, out on her own label ZNA later this month. - Hillary Kaylor - RCRD LBL

Following up the Release of her debut EP, SINAH has drawn attention to her music through a Remix of "Breezeblocks" by Alt-J and features on blogs including Hugo Boss, PouleD'or and the fashion label Oki-Ni's Mix Series. During the past year SINAH has formed a 5 piece Band around her music and with visuals adding to her performance, the producer rises from her studio to stage.
