Bio

Inspired by legendary artists like The Talking Heads, David Bowie, Fela Kuti and the current pop flavors of Daft Punk, Portugal. The Man and Arcade Fire, Sinaloha released their debut EP, Ice Pop, on July 15th, 2014.

Ideas began flowing in the spring of 2013 when singer/songwriter Gio Alvarez, met musicians Conrad Capalbo, Jason Hecht, Jacob Mancus and drummer Alex Martineau to form what has now become Sinaloha. Shortly after, they made their live debut at Bowery Electric to a packed house where Josh Homme of the stoner rock band Queens of the Stone Age made a special appearance.

Based in Brooklyn, the five members tirelessly spent most of their first year writing, rehearsing and playing their material live to craft a distinctive yet excitable dance rock sound. The Ice Pop EP exemplifies a sliver of what they’ve been able to create. Coupling powerhouse drum and bass that provokes endless dancing, with raw guitars, vintage pianos and analog synths, Ice Pop is a bold statement of their position on music.

Ice Pop includes four tracks. The title track “Ice Pop” evokes the Rolling Stones’ Some Girls, and “Come Slowly” is infused with futuristic disco. “Phat Chix” hypnotizes with it’s heavy beat, and the NYC rebel anthem “Surf” slams the door shut on the EP. In support of Ice Pop Sinaloha toured the northeast throughout the summer of 2014. They’re currently working on their sophomore release and continuing to tour the northeast.
