"**** Q Recommends."

A remarkably varied backdrop sprinkles colour into his dark world. A beautifully fashioned debut. JOHN AIZLEWOOD **** Q Recommends. - Q Magazine

"Fearless pomp-rock – breathtaking!"

Given the right exposure, Sine Star Project could be a really massive band.

This highly charged, emotional and arty album gives a huge nod to some of the greats including Led Zeppelin, Queen and more recently Muse. Its creator, Peter J Croissant and co, which also includes 35 guest musicians, have unleashed a freewheeling monster.

It's not all blood and thunder as you might imagine, but a clever fusion of rock, classical overtones, jazz and electronica, which curiously blend together. It opens with the power-pop Bleeding Like A Dog. This is the kind of killer hook that most bands would die for. Its impact holds you instantly, boosted by a romping chorus and wailing guitar solo, rounded off by neat piano tinklings. This shows the band is acutely aware of dynamics that surface again on Brown Bread, a whopping rocker that features ear-piercing solos and thumping riff.

Further classical influences surface on the divine soft-rocker Eternal Sadness Of Man, a lazy ballad, showing they’re a very adaptable and versatile band. Shades of classic Led Zep permeate Chine Drag Queen. A slow and deceptive build-up eventually leads to a riff sequence on the scale of Kashmir, though not as sustained.

The pace and intensity drops on the next two – Glitter Ghost and Little Bird. The Temptress would make a cracking single. It’s lightweight enough to make most radio playlists. The thump and grind of Post Human surely has shades of Red Hot Chili Peppers, but with more sophistication, and edge.

In true bombastic fashion, they end on a high – Cathedral. This is their unforgettable opus: riffs, angelic vocals and big production bring back memories of Emerson Lake and Palmer, and its wonderful stuff.

"4/5 'Building Humans'"

"It's so rare that an album snatches you with the first note and retains its grip until the very end whilst giving you such a turbulent ride, but 'Building Humans' does just this. Think of it not as an album, but an adventure; albeit a scary one."

"the product of a pretty special imagination"

they have enough sonic skill to be able to make the out-and-out prog that Muse would have liked to...
Flowing, confidently classical arrangements weaving into a wide-ranging whole, Building Humans remains deft and elegant where others would arrive at cheesy bombast. Evidently the product of a pretty special imagination, Sine Star Project is uniquely refined rock, darkly romantic at heart, and not a little brave.

"8/10 "beautifully-executed""

...All of which conspires to take a torch and burn down this previously-sceptical writer's idea that SINE STAR PROJECT are just a bunch of mysteriously-titled jobbing, Prog-gy musos led by a bloke with a daft name. Far from it, 'Building Humans' is a timely, beautifully-executed album about life in the increasingly frightening 21st Century played by a group who pull off the deft trick of equating virtuosity with emotional resonance and make it count in the modern context. Good for them.

"Sine Star Project are not from this world"

Building Humans Sine Star Project are not from this world. Ziggy Stardust left our universe, procreated and left his spawn to fend for themselves on a mixed diet of Muse, Led Zeppelin, Queen and magic dust.

"There’s fascinating brainpower at work here."

Desperate guitars chug in empathetic response to Peter J’s wails and everything slips less than tidily into brilliance…There’s fascinating brainpower at work here. It deserves to be nourished.

Sine Star Project plays eclectic music, unified by beautifully delivered vocal melodies and propelled by dramatic, bombastic arrangements. Featuring stirring strings, ripping synths, shining brass, and an unusual yet marvelous dash of Nashville Americana by way of Mike Davies’ superb pedal steel playing. They follow the credo that more is more; The overall impact is highly charged, emotional music delivered in the grandiose style reminiscent of Queen, Led Zeppelin, Jeff Buckley, Sound Garden, The Beatles, King Crimson, Muse, The Flaming Lips, and Wilco.

With two critically acclaimed albums under their belt and earning a well-deserved reputation as a fearsome live act, Sine Star Project has continued to tour since 2006. Recently, they’ve played a number of high profile support slots at major venues in the U.K and The Netherlands including Manchester Academy, The Bournemouth Opera House, The London Forum, The 013, The Vereeniging, and others.

In a recent conversation with radio presenter Xan Phillips, Sine Star Project joked that because they build their own studio equipment and guitar amps they could easily be placed in a "Geek Rock" genre. “We don’t really take ourselves too seriously but we take what we do very seriously. It matters to us what we play how we play it and why… (we) want to blow people away and it’s an incredible feeling when you make that connection…only music does that.“
