Play as loud as we can. Single Parents is a four-piece band from Brazil trying to make its own way in the alternative scene, influenced by noise and guitarfuzz bands. Quoting Thurston Moore, "society is a hole", and we want to fill this space with our music and our gigs whenever we have the chance.

Biography

Single Parents is a four-piece group from Sao Paulo, Brazil, formed in 2009. The sound is highly influenced by shoegaze, lo-fi and post-punk bands from USA and UK in the early 90's.

In January 2010, the band released their debut EP "Could You Explain?", then toured for two years in Brazil, playing in important festivals and clubs, including a brief tour in New York. Both album and shows garanteed comparisons to Pavement, Sebadoh and other college rockers.

Single Parents started working on "Unrest", its first full album, in February 2011. To produce this material, they headed to Seaside Lounge studio (Brooklyn/NY), and tape recorded these sessions.

Produced by Roger Paul Mason (Dirty Projectors, Mike Patton) and mastered at Masterdisk (NY), the band invited special guests for the album, such as the violinist Kotono Sato, who toured with Gorillaz, Gnarls Barkley and The Good The Bad & The Queen.

During 2012, Single Parents released videos for "Stop Waiting (For Me Now)" and "Unrest".

The band has been working on their tour around the country, recently performing as supporting act for A Place To Bury Strangers and Ringo Deathstarr in Sao Paulo.

The album "Unrest" was released in March 2012, digitally by Trama and CD format by Balaclava Records.
