Bio

Sing Orpheus is a rhythmic, trance inducing, four piece psychedelic rock band based in Los Angeles. The band was founded by seasoned musicians, Jeffrey Sebelia and Terry Borden, who have recorded and toured with Pete Yorn (Columbia/Sony), Lifter (Interscope), Lusk (Zoo Music Group) and Idaho (Caroline/Virgin) to name but a few.

Jeffrey and Terry got together in late 2008 and decided to put together a group that had a unique feature, two bass guitars. Artistically they wanted to stretch the sonic boundaries of the bass, and create a unique sonic formula that would leave listeners energized and inspired. Terry’s bass style is influenced by Peter Hook (Joy Division and New Order) and guitar players such as Johnny Marr (The Smiths) and Will Sergeant (Echo and the Bunnymen). Jeff holds down the low end, combining thunderous rhythmic bass lines like Tracey Pew (The Birthday Party and Nic Cave).

The duo began hatching out songs and soon enlisted gamine ,Cassandra Church, as the lead singer after hearing her sing back up vocals for a local R&B/dance pop group. She stole the show with her beauty, effortless vocals and her powerful stage presence. Her vocals are powerful enough to induce goose bumps. Cassandra’s experience in musical theater in Europe made her the perfect dramatic front woman for “Sing Orpheus”. Coupling Jeff’s gift for poetry and natural lyricism, and Cassandra’s unique melodies and emotional delivery, the songs are at once memorable and arresting.

The final element in the equation is drummer John O’Reilly. With a Master’s degree in drumming, John has been touted as one of the best drummers around. John has recorded with too many artists to list. He cements the strong rhythmic and danceable characteristics of the band, which are crucial to their super-charged energetic, captivating style of delivery.
