SINK TO SEE

BandRockAlternative

Sink to See are an indie alt rock quartet based in Los Angeles, California.

Biography

Two artists and students, Jason Napier and Dony West, met while attending art school in Columbus, Ohio. Together they formed a rock band and called it Sink to See, there they began a songwriting partnership. Their guitar driven, emotionally melodic indie rock tunes, along with a little hard work, helped them garner attention on the local college scene. In January of 2001, the band uprooted from the Midwest and dropped onto the coastal town of Santa Barbara, California where they made their rock n' roll nest.Initially being compared sonically to Radiohead and vocally and emotionally to The Smashing Pumpkins, the band were evolving and establishing their own identity and sound while paying dues, gigging incessantly and gaining notoriety opening for such acts as The Breeders, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, AM Radio, Summercamp, The Pen Fifteen Club and Ima Robot. It was there, too, that the band went into the studio to record their first demo.

Making a name for themselves, but not content to rest on their Santa Barbara laurels, they brought the band back and forth from SB to Los Angeles in September of 2001. There they continued their musical endeavors on a more serious and focused level. After a year of writing, regrouping, gigging and living in between L.A. and Santa Barbara, AP recorded several new tracks in 2002, as well as their most recent self-produced work in early 2004 at the Compound Studios in Long Beach. In early 2005 in Los Angeles, Jason and Dony were joined by bass guitarist Shawn Bathe and later drummer/ percussionist Dish, as the band began work on a library of new songs, new recordings, and upcoming gigs throughout the new year, breathing new life into the group and taking all things to the next level, Sink to See is a band of songwriters with old school rock n’ roll heart and soul with an indie rock core, Sink to See has longevity. A very close group of musicians bringing to life music that has been stirring inside them since the bands infancy. Lushly melodic, sometimes dark and evocative of mood, their music is fueled by emotional vocals and lyrics that paint elaborate pictures. Sink to See make music which shows the many faces, feelings and emotions of the band. They are true to their musicianship, and always trying to better themselves and the world through music.

Calling

Written By: Donny West/ Jason Napier

Calling

Hear me out don’t tear away, cause this is what I’m trying to say.
For one last chance at yesterday, this is what I’m trying to say.
Cause all I got you’re taking away, this is what I’m trying to say.
I can’t believe that it could end this way.

I can hear you calling out my name,
But I can’t see your face.
You’re calling out my name,
Where are you now?

So far gone, but the taste of your skin remains, this is what I’m trying to say.
I’d wash it away but reminds me of better days, this is what I’m trying to say.
If I could sleep, I’d dream that I’d never wake, this is what I’m trying to say.
I keep you with me in my dreams you’ll stay.

I can hear you calling out my name,
But I can’t see your face.
You’re calling out my name.

And all this time that we’ve run.
Look how fast time has gone?
Looking back at what we had, will it ever be the same?

I hear you calling,
I hear you calling,
I hear you call my name…

I can hear you calling out my name,
But I can’t see your face.
It’s you I can’t replace,
Where are you now? Where are you now?

Outsider

Outsider

Tears run softly, down your face.
Another broken promise I can’t erase.
I live in silence in this house alone.
My heart beats cold, but I’m burning, I’m burning.

On the Outside,
Somewhere for you and I.
Oh I can’t find you, wait for me tonight.

I ran that night with nowhere left to go.
So far away from what I thought was home.
I know you’re out there, come back to me.
I’m dying in here, I’m burning, I’m burning.

On the Outside,
Somewhere for you and I.
Oh I can’t find you, wait for me tonight.

Tell me what your heart is feeling,
And say it like you really mean it.
Every time we talk we’re screaming.
And if it’s love don’t wanna feel it, no.

I’ve finally given all I got.
My arms are raised I’ve given up.
So tell me why the pain won’t stop.

On the Outside,
Somewhere for you and I.
Oh I can’t find you, wait for me tonight.

Speakers

Speakers

We don’t care what you say yeah you ought to know,
Let go the soul of rock n’ roll is in control.
I’m not sold, solid gold, yeah it’s time you go.
The ones who stole your rock n’ roll.

Hey Now, Hey Now.
You feel the Speakers pumpin’
Hey Now, Hey Now.
You feel the Speakers pump it out.

Way up in Detroit we can break it out to Buffalo,
Down Bluegrass 68 to hippie Frisco.
Those days were pure, we were sure things were on a roll. The rock n’ roll was out to kill the disco.

Hey Now, Hey Now.
You feel the Speakers pumpin’
Hey Now, Hey Now.
You feel the Speakers pump it out.

Jimmy Page backstage, Beatles all the rage.
A man in black is tougher than a prison cage.
Purple haze in the days when we didn’t try.
We knew that rock n’ roll could never die.

Hey Now, Hey Now.
You feel the Speakers pumpin’
Hey Now, Hey Now.
You feel the Speakers pump it out.

Shine On

Shine On

Stumbled on some photos I thought I threw away,
the colors start to fade, but it seems like yesterday.
The feeling all roll back as I flip another page.
It’s funny how back then I’d dream of better days,
but when it all came true, the only thing I thought of was you.
All I can do…

Just Shine On. Shine On,
With every breathe we take until they are gone,
Just Shine On. Shine On.
Cause in the end it doesn’t matter no more.
Just Shine On.

Has it been that long since the last time we talked?
With all this time between us would we even talk at all?
Can we take our wrongs, and somehow make them all right? Tonight…

Just Shine On. Shine On,
With every breathe we take until they are gone,
Just Shine On. Shine On.
Cause in the end it doesn’t matter no more.
Just Shine On

Help me now I’m coming round.
Help me now I wanna stay,
but everything we are we lost along the way.
Help me now I need you here, carry me away and far,
but I always come back to where you are.

Don’t close your eyes when you feel the sting,
In the end believe in this one thing.

Realize

Written By: Donny West/ Jason Napier

Realize

Scream out loud, or just walk away.
If you want out, you know the way.
You just don’t realize what we’ve got here.
You just don’t realize what we’ve got here.

I reach for you just as your letting go.
You slip away like words through the telephone.
You just don’t realize what we’ve got here.
You just don’t realize what we’ve got here.

And I don’t know why I just can’t walk away,
Yeah we just might find our way back… it’s not too late.

We both know, we’ll never be the same,
Cause love hits hard, when we try to change.
You just don’t realize what we’ve got here.
You just don’t realize what we’ve got here.

And I don’t know why I just can’t walk away,
But the feelings we had won’t let memories fade.

Just when I’d given up, and my heart’s had enough.
You return with your love, one more time.

You just don’t realize what we’ve got here.
You just don’t realize what we’ve got here.
