Bio

Rap Artist/Producer Sin Perez, Born Martin Perez on July 3, 1987 in Houston, TX. The first of four children, he was raised by both parents until his early teen years. Sin has been rapping since the age of 13 and grew up in the Red Bluff Terrace neighborhood of Pasadena, TX. What started out as a way for him and a few of his childhood friends to joke around about each other and to see which one could rhyme better, would soon became an outlet for him. Sin used art and poetry as a way to escape the reality of his childhood until he discovered his passion for music. The divorce of his parents caused him to spiral out of control. Turning to the street life, he slowly but surely realized there was no real future in that type of life style. In 2002 at the age of 15 he started forming his poetry into lyrics and painting mental pictures with words. He recorded his first song on a Memorex cassette tape through a karaoke machine. That same year, he and a group of his childhood friends formed their first rap group called THIS GENERATION. In 2003, at the age of 16, he was introduced to a then up and coming rapper by the name of John Chris Quinones aka Pop through a mutual friend while staying in Corpus Christi, TX for the summer. Pop had a home studio and was willing to give free studio time. After hearing the word play and lyrics coming from both Sin and his younger brother J.P., Pop quickly took them both under his wing, showing them both the proper way of recording and the format of writing 16 bars. Pop added both Sin and J.P. to his label RockUmUp Records. Returning back to Pasadena when summer was over, Sin got back into the street life and recorded music on the side. A mixtape was later released that year with a group he, his brother J. P. and a few close friends put together, Bassment Hustlers. It was passed throughout the high school they attended. After members parted ways over disagreements, Sin decided to start his own rap group and record label under the name of Southern Block Soldiers. In 2006 S.B.S. put out a mixtape which contained an anthem track for the city they grew up in entitled " Straight Outta Pasadena". This anthem song rapidly brought a local fan base and later brought an outside fan base via MySpace. After performing their music live at local nightclubs and sports bars and witnessing with his own eyes how much support they had, Sin realized music and performing was what he really wanted and loved to do. Facing a 2-10 year prison sentence, the devastating death of his cousin Stevie Ray in 2007 and the birth of his daughter in 2008 brought dramatic change to Sin’s life. He then decided that he was going to clean up his life and get back to the one thing that helped him deal with life’s trials and tribulations, music.
In late 2009, Sin was approached by members of S.O.T Records and was asked to join their label. After agreeing and being added on to the roster, Sin the members of S.O.T Records put out their first official group video “ANOTHER ONE FLOW”. Sin and S.O.T. Records have shared the stage with many local up and coming artist and also some of Houston's living legends such as Lil Flip, E.S.G, Trae the Truth, Devin the Dude, JDawg of B.H.O., K.Rino of S.P.C. and many more. Sin is currently working on his first mixtape " Street Poetry". In late January 2012 Sin released his first official video from the " Street Poetry" mixtape entitled " 4 My City" (produced and directed by his younger brother J. P.). While working on his mixtape, Sin is also working on his first solo album which will contain only instrumentals he produced and will feature other up and coming rap artist. This solo album is also scheduled to be released late 2012. Musically influenced by most of the artist he grew up to that came out in the 90's, Sin's lyrics alone set him apart from the everyday rap music you hear.
