Sins of Alchemy

Sins of Alchemy

 Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
BandRockMetal

We're an Indianapolis based progressive rock/acid metal concept band, drawing from such influences as The Mars Volta, Coheed and Cambria, Chiodos, Shaolin Death Squad, and Fair to Midland. Two lead singers and two lead guitarists provide for a unique, energetic show.

Biography

"In a world plagued by uncertainty, religious tirade, and manipulation by unseen forces, we, the Alchemists of Eversmoore, pursued a quest: a journey through the very depths of the human soul to conquer the final frontiers of the human mind and spirit. Our experiments proved much more wildly successful than we could have ever imagined as we became entrapped by our extrication of the greatest mystery of all. These are the sins of our alchemy…"

Sins of Alchemy is a 5 piece progressive rock/acid metal concept band hot on the release of their first studio EP, Onward to Madness. They regularly evade simple musical description, but have been likened to The Mars Volta, Coheed and Cambria, Chiodos, Shaolin Death Squad, Brazil, Pink Floyd, and Between the Buried and Me, just to name a few. Ranging from ethereal melodies to brutal breakdowns, highly experimental theatrical barrages of sound to punchy dance-inducing choruses, Sins of Alchemy provides something completely different, yet oddly familiar to anyone interested in the recent developments of rock music.

The Prince of Cats

Written By: Kyle Turpin

I’ve still got the spotted colors in my mind,
[There never was a way, only a pact... an illusion]
from the time when you stayed and it felt so right,
[a nightmare doppelganging as a daydream. The warmth of your embrace]
I could feel you in my eyes and hold you all night…
[perpetually fueled the fires of betrayal that burned behind your eyes, forever scorching my soul.]
(Long!) for the day when I get to see your face,
[Consumed, engulfed, burnt out and desolate. Trying to find my path with nothing but scorched sockets]
When you presence will illuminate this place,
[left gaping and hollow. Emptiness as my only companion.]
And send me in a fatal dive-bomb of want for more.
[But with sadistic rage burning ever brighter, I sell my last remnants to the dream thief for my chance at revenge...]

Will you come back and save me from this nightmare?
(I’m afraid!) that’s the case when you are not here.
And I’m trying, and I’m fighting, and I’m dying to know that everything will somehow work out,
like it never seems to do.
(You see!) These addictions, are but a meager substitute,
For when I’m not with you.
No one knows how you have stirred an echo deep inside of me
(Deep inside of me).
A haunting loop, for all eternity.
(It says!) That you and I, we can never be
(No, we can never be, no, no, right now).
As long as you stay you, and I stay me.
Oh, I should have known,
Right from the fucking start.
(They say!) that you, will be like Hiroshima to my heart.
Well then bombs away!

When the clock had reached its final tick,
I asked if I could stay a bit,
at least until the cold that winter brings would somehow draw you near.
I thought that it would be so right,
to hold you this November night,
but then you leaned in closely, and whispered in my ear:
[solo]
I will never be saved from this nightmare.
As long as you’re still there, and I still care
(I still care!)

{You Cutthroats!} Show Them Mercy?!

{
Listen here, my darling:
I’ve tried to warn you that I wasn’t for you
It’s always a lie…
It’s always a lie…
It’s always a lie…

But despair came arising, to my surprise!
You weren’t the person I thought that you would be.
It’s always a lie…
It’s always a lie…
It’s always a lie…

This may be alarming, but, my dear, I know I’m charming
Will you wait for me?
I’ll be there for you.
I wish you would die…
I wish you would die…
I wish you would die…

But of course, which we all go for,
just kills us again and again once more.
Finding features without attitude
has lost all sense of meaning.
I wish you would die…
I wish you would die…
I wish you would die…

I felt I should run, I thought I could kill.
But when time came, I found myself there, standing still.
How can I survive…?
How can I survive…?
How can I survive…?

So here I go and raise my glass,
I’ll make my toast, it’s laced with class.
Oh no, dear boy, I think they’re onto us again.
How can I survive…?
How can I survive…?
How can I survive…?
}

It’s about the times we’ve shared.
It’s about the things we’ve had.
Like the times we’ve never cared.
It’s about the awkward stares.
I’ll need proof you won’t be scared.
Deny me this chance to dare.
I’ve told you a lie and I must come clean.
I’ve told you a lie and ruined everything.

Father, Father!
I’m doing what I’m told.
Mother, Mother!
You’re getting so old.
Father, Father! (Can’t you see, I’m doing this for you?!?)
I’m doing what I’m told.
Mother, Mother!
Please let me explain!

We pass the time by telling lies;
mock existence, play your game.
We’ll stare up towards the burning skies;
our wildest dreams are short from here.
Collect the clues that lead right through
the emptiness that’s cast on you.
So follow your hopes and pray for the day!

Can we cut right to the chase?
I can see right through your face.
I’ve told you a lie and I must come clean.
I’ve told you a lie and ruined everything.

We pass the time by telling lies;
mock existence, play your game.
We stare up towards the burning skies;
our wildest dreams are short from here.
Collect the clues that lead right through
the emptiness that’s cast on you.
So follow your hopes and pray for the day!

Why must I renounce my faith?
I’ve prayed to them and taught to hate
all second guessing of my fate
which I hold key to lock and safe!

I’ll need proof you won’t be scared.
Deny me this chance to dare!?
I’ve told you a lie and I must come clean.
I’ve told you a lie and ruined everything.

Father, Father!
I’m doing what I’m told.
Mother, Mother!
You’re getting so old.
Father, Father! (Can’t you see, I’m doing this for you?!?)
I’m doing what I’m told.
Tell me you’re just a waste of time.
Please let me explain!

We pass the time by telling lies;
mock existence, play your game.
We stare up towards the burning skies;
our wildest dreams are short from here.
Collect the clues that lead right through
the emptiness that’s cast on you.
So follow your hopes and pray for the day!

Eversmoore

Written By: Kyle Turpin

On the eve of nocturnal sun
It’s time for the child to become the one
The heir to a mighty throne
The kingdom of Eversmoore will soon be called his own
But first, a test, must be passed
He must venture into unknown wilderness

It has always been this way, since the gods first forged the blade
For the proper rite of passage, the child must find a beast to slay
So to carry out the blessing, the father and son, they carried on their way

Prophecy has told
That one of these moons, sinner’s desire would be so bold
To dabble in alchemic melodies
And change the course of history by opening the mystery of life

Once on the site of hunting, father kneeled down to pray
For the prophecy was nearing, as the clouds begun to clear out the way
I know it is time, but spare my son, he sang
I know he’ll be the one to bring my people out the darkest of days

Then as if prompted, nocturnal sun began to radiate
The devil’s newfound minions who were lying, anxiously in wait
Changed festivities, once they saw their meat, and supplied their feast with blood of king laid recently to waste

Look at what you’ve done!
Look at what you’ve done!
My only son, you’ve got to save us all from this!

Run back to eversmoore
See who’s left to fight
Run back to eversmoore
Find the one who’ll save us tonight

Run, back to eversmoore
Tell the people, They. Must. Fight (or they will surely die)
Run back to eversmoore, woah oh oh oh
Find the one to save us
Or the demon will surely slay us
Find the one to save us tonight!

Father, I’ll avenge thy death, I’ll fight until my final breath
The demon’s head I’ll bring you fervently
Secure the blade the gods hath made, dissuade the guardian, be not afraid
And find the one to fulfill the prophecy

Ahh! This wound is biting, child, you cannot stay around
Take this bottle ‘round my neck, quickly, do it now
Pour the powder down my throat, until I make no sound
Tell your mother I will watch over you.

God, these fucking demons, they will pay for what they’ve done
They have no idea the power that was given to the son
When they took the patriarchal life, they only set you free
Father Spirit, rain over me!

A Sincere Letter Titled "They Won't Make It"

Written By: Travis James

As the children are sighted playing on the volcanic rocks which resemble piles of broken glass
A familiar scent fills the air and poisons their lungs.
As the apparitions sweep by spoiling the life of everything they touch.
The toxic fumes fill the air.

Pull that lever son! I promise you wont be disappointed with the outcome!
You wanted blood right?
Good, then blood you shall receive.
Release the machines! The kings and the queens and all the jacks with bleeding seams.
But whatever you do,
don’t let the prince see the light of day!

But the drum beats on…
Their breathing has ceased and life’s to a halt.
Extract all of their tails, lock them all in the vault.
If they should cry I just may silence their breath with the blunt edge of my voice.
Just don’t forget what we’ve come for.
Just don’t forget when they cry more!

Their time has come.
Their time is now to live only to die Their hearts and fears will coincide.

Our cannon fire
will open wooden doors covered in steel
to keep out love to stop the feeling of
(our broken dreams, they pave the way)
towards knives constructed from
our children’s bones and nylon rope.
