Belfast singer-songwriter Siobhán Day will release her debut EP, The Start Of Something Else, on Friday 29th April, 2016. Recorded at Earthmusic studios and with beautiful artwork by Belfast artist Jamie Harper, these four tracks are the perfect showcase of her soulful voice and songwriting talent.

Over the last six years she has established herself on the Irish singer-songwriter circuit, playing with London-based act Pat Dam Smyth and the hugely popular Belfast band The Emerald Armada among others. Siobhán has also appeared at festivals throughout Ireland, including Sunflower Fest, Dublin City Soul Festival and the Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival, and at venues like Darkey Kelly's in Dublin.

Her ever-growing fanbase are drawn to a style that mixes all of her early influences with the sophisticated pop-rock of KT Tunstall and Amy McDonald, the Americana of The Staves and The Weepies and her own personality – singing in a soft Belfast accent.

Lead single Oh Mercy shows off her lighter side, a bright and breezy account of a week working for the MTV Music Awards in Belfast while juggling domestic emergencies – "one of those weeks – too much work, too little sleep" as Siobhán sings.

Opening track Start is an instant earworm with its insistent strumming, propulsive drums and hopeful chorus, while Different wraps its message of stoicism and change in a stylishly jazzy arrangement.

Finally, the closing Faith is the emotional heart of the EP. As the song moves from stripped-down verses to the stunning swell of the chorus, Siobhán implores the subject of the song not to judge but instead to "please have a little faith in me."

The Start Of Something Else marks a new chapter in Siobhán Day's musical career – and the arrival of an artist of real substance.
