Sirens and the Mariners formed together in late 2012.
Influenced by roots, blues, and rock and roll.
Matt and Lauren Sotello are husband and wife and have grown up involved in different bands and one day they decided to come together and try to form one of their own. That's how Sirens and the Mariners came about.
Writing and singing has always been a passion for Lauren, she started writing at an early age and grew up needing an outlet for her life experiences, almost as a remedy she found writing to be her way to open up. Eventually she learned how to piece together her writing to create songs.
Matt grew up with a passion for angst and rock and roll. He grew up skateboarding with the neighborhood kids and they introduced him to punk rock. Punk Rock was where he found his drive to play and learn the guitar. He was in his fair share of rock and roll bands, but they were just for the love of music and he eventually had to move on.
Both Matt and Lauren knew they wanted to work together but wanted the timing to be right and fall 2012 they took time to see if they even could write together. The work paid off and they were able to come together and create a collaboration of sound and form the band.
Genesis came around early 2013. Matt and Lauren met her through a friend not knowing she could sing. One day through a conversation Genesis opened up about her voice and her love for music & interest in singing backup. Lauren decided to try her out. It turned out she could sing!
Sirens and the Mariners as of April 2013 are very new to the music scene. Music and playing are the passion and drive behind this band. Music isn't a choice for them it's what they have to do and what they'll keep on doing.
