Bio

I was born in Chicago and my love for music and performing began at an early age. My mother was a jazz singer who had her own band and performed at many of the hottest local spots in the city of Chicago. She often tells a heartwarming story of a time when she and I were dining in a restaurant and I had taken my meal which happened to be a plain hot dog from its bun. I stood up and began singing "Yes Jesus Loves Me" as if the hotdog was a microphone! The entire restaurant watched in awe and applauded as this 3 year old child sang without shame. She said it was like I knew I was born to perform. This was just the beginning. In Kindergarten I sang the National Anthem every morning for my Kindergarten class. My mom says that this is when she knew I had something special.

In school my talent did not go unnoticed. In the 6th grade, my music teacher was amazed by my natural vocal ability and suggested that I audition for a citywide Chicago children's choir called the "All City Youth Chorus". It is with this choir that I began my classical training. My audition for this group caught the attention of one of the instructors, James Edwards. Mr. Edwards was impressed with my raw talent and took me under his wing to mentor, coach and manage me.

By age 11, I sang the National Anthem for a White Sox game, met with Sony and Motown Records, performed on the Channel 5 News Float for the Annual Budbiliken Parade (a Chicago South Side tradition) for 2 consecutive years which landed my picture to hang proudly in the NBC tower lobby. Tragically my journey with Mr. Edwards would come to end when he died from Leukemia in 1995. Unsure of what was next; I joined "Walt Whitman and the Soul Children of Chicago Choir". My abilities shined through in every way imaginable as I was selected early on as one of the leading vocalist.

By this time I began really find myself and discovered my passion as not only a singer but a songwriter and vocal arranger. I recorded for Silver Burdett children's music books, voice-overs for Toys R Us commercials, and toured with Michael Crawford for "The Phantom of the Opera" just to name a few.

I am a multi-faceted artist who enjoys R&B, gospel, rock and pop just to name a few. What most don’t know about me is that I also enjoy singing arias, classical pieces, as well as sacred and spiritual music. My current vocal coach is the reputable Lyndia Johnson of "Sterling Vocal Coaching". Ms. Johnson is known for nurturing and developing her students. I am well rounded, personable, outgoing, professional and easy to work with, goal oriented and driven. I’ve spent a lifetime preparing for this leg of my journey and I am grateful for where I’ve been but excited about where I’m going.

To date, I have successfully secured a terrific band, background vocalists, choreographer Pia Hamilton, owner of "Intrigue Dance and Performing Arts Center" of Chicago, IL, dancers, personal trainer Richard Gardner, image consultant Michelle Santiago, personal stylist, make-up artist Branden Malear, and a personal videographer. As a team, we are passionate about preserving live music and the performing Arts. We are also dedicated to introducing our campaign to preserve the Arts at our local schools in underserved communities. The entertainment industry is a great career path with many possibilities and opportunities. I believe that every child has some level of creativity. I desire to help them discover it, cultivate it and expose them to the possibilities.
