"Sir Thomas "The Local Motive EP" gets things moving."

The New Jersey born, Dallas, Texas raised Sir Thomas falls in line with the growing generation of hybrid style rappers infused by east coast and southern rap. Thomas uses his six track EP “The Local Motive” to find his niche somewhere between Wiz Khalifa and Kid Cudi.

He takes some risks that pay off, especially on “Feelin’ Good,” a jubilant, techno-laced anthem that will make heads bob. Thomas shows his versatility as he smoothly sings the infectious chorus, “I’m feeling, I’m feeling great, I might be late to my party, don’t wait, for a n**** at the door.”

Another standout is “Nothing in This World,” where a soul stirring organ grounds Thomas in a more organic Southern hip hop sound. “All Good” retains the organic theme, featuring production and a hook in the style of a Roots/John Legend collaboration.

Thomas does play it safe with some rap clichés, but demonstrates that he’s at his best when he’s focused on his song writing abilities rather than punch lines and rhymes. For an MC who has been rapping for less than two years, however, Sir Thomas appears to be headed down the right track.

"The Local Motive EP by Sir Thomas review"

The history of a themed EP release has deep roots in Hip Hop. Such has been traditionally used as a tool to showcase an artist’s growth in style involving his or her musical persona in a non intrusive, attention grabbing format.

Sir Thomas, with the recent release of his new EP entitled “The Local Motive EP” shows he is not only well versed in his Hip Hop history, but likewise has a unique and tantalizing stylistic approach that is as fresh as it is addictive.
The title, as Thompson Entertainment Group’s featured artist Sir Thomas notes, evolved from a general “home grown” show of respect regarding his local hip hop scenes of Dallas and Fort Worth Texas The collection of six tracks, however, showcases his influences stemming from multiple
scenes Sir Thomas frequents. Though hailing from Texas, Sir Thomas has spent time and gained influences from such areas as the Atlanta, Georgia, Macon, Georgia and even Boulder, Colorado Hip Hop scenes. For example, the track “Nothing in This World”, featuring Atlanta native Ceely (Vice City Records) and Macon’s singer-songwriter star Chelsea Hughes, drives home a saucy hook and a layered melodic verse while maintaining a deep southern club anthem by Georgia Producer G Man Fantastic. Likewise, Thomas stays true to his roots with the unique and emotional “Loko->Local” introduction-turned-aggression montage, and with the track “All Good” which speaks of a more raw-Texas street style lyrical approach. Finally, Sir Thomas ventures into new turf with the almost psychotic track “Feelin’ Good”, a hip-hop electric mixture which comes out pleasing both easy listeners as well as Hip Hop Heads of the modern century.

All in all, Sir Thomas’s “The Local Motive EP” is an epic introduction that serves its position as his first official project release quite well. All in All, “The Local Motive EP”” seems to be the beginning of a seemingly lengthy musical career full of artistic growth and diversity. - hiphopencounter.com

"Sir Thomas The Local Motive EP"

With any form of art you build a fan base off the strength of the perception the audience gets from your work. I truly believe an EP can make or break an artist. Folks are quick to get bored and first impressions are everything. An EP is long enough to give your audience a taste of what you have to offer, but short enough to avoid the skip button. Call it an appetizer if you will.

As I hit play on The Local Motive EP, I noticed two things. First and foremost, the instrumental selection was damn near perfect. 2nd, the witty lyrics streaming from the speakers laced with Sir Thomas‘ southern drawl was instantly intoxicating. It was a mixture of modern hip hop with a hint of Southern hospitality all rolled in to one.

Thompson Entertainment Group writes,”he is attempting to break the stereotypical street hymn/club hit mentality by daring music fans to take a close listen. His mixtape trilogy, “The Spectrum” illustrated the many colors in Sir Thomas’ artistic tackle box. The first of the three tapes mixed raw lyrical presence with an encompassing flow, a great welcome mat for his entrance. The second, End of SPECulation, ventured to explore more of the song making abilities, while staying close to his bar writing talents. The third and final tape, eSPECially ready, collectively accomplished delivering the best of talents for the listener to stay intrigued while being an all around easy listen. His hunger, ambition and will to learn makes him one of the most diverse MC’s of this area, if not the state! ”
