"Les Enfants Terribles"

“Taking cues from all things loud and snarling, the band ripped through their songs, anchored by the slightly metallic sneer of vocalist Claudia Neuman. If your ears are a fan of serious rock, well, you might be interested in this here band.” - Megan Terrible

SISTER EX BIO

“Sugar and spice with very sharp knives” might be an appropriate way to describe the ?the songs of Claudia Neuman, singer for Sister Ex, a Baltimore- Washington D.C.- ?based indie punk outfit. Failed Buddhist monks, minimum-wage management wannabes ?and abused six year olds are just some of the characters that inhabit the band’s self-titled debut release.
“These lives seem to come out of the air and land on my page,” says Neuman, ?a Los Angeles native and an Anusara Yogi. “ But from my experience these stories ring true, we meet these people every day”.
The band’s sound has been likened to a mash up of The Clash, Patti Smith and Crazy Horse, with a hint of Gang of Four and the Buffalo Springfield. They are known for their at times raucous full-out high tempo sonic assault performance style that is suddenly combined with their style of the Sister Ex rock ballad: sublime, profane, dark, lyrical and whimsical.
“We’re really old-school punk which to me means the ethos of being original, having our own sound, so we would always be the oddball group on some of those bills.” says ?Anthony Piazza, the band’s guitarist “We try not to re-stomp that same old ground.”
In 2010, after a few changes in personnel, Sister Ex has found itself on track with it’s current members who comprise the winning chemistry that has perfected their sound: Claudia Neuman, a singer/songwriter from Los Angeles, guitarist Anthony Piazza, formally of Florida’s Defectors and Washington D.C.’s Eubie Hayve and Liquid Kitty, bassist, Jeff Wesolowski of East is East and Johnny Black of Crunch Mob on drums.
The band recorded their self-titled debut release in the winter of 2011.
Sister Ex is due to release their second CD, ‘Kali Forina’ later this year.

“A steady four-piece ground out the punk rock tunes with the emphasis on rock. Quickly paced mostly, but some nice variety in tempo and sound at times. It’s kind of the “aware” 1979-81 sound. I heard Vktms with Niagara (Destroy all Monsters) like sound on vocals.”
