Sister Fa

I am born and I grew up in Senegal, Westafrica, where I also started my carriere as an artist. Since the beginning I was doing Rap Music mixing it up with my own senegalsese traditions. In 2005 I released my first album in Senegal and in the same year I won the price for the best newcomer of the year at the Senegalese Hip Hop Awards. I am the first woman in Senegal releasing a Hip Hop Solo Album, so it`s kind a pioneer work i was doing in my country. In my Album I did rap and singing parts. Now since more than a year I am living in Berlin, Germany, where I have now my own band and I already had the possiblity to play a couple of concerts. In my texts I talk a lot about woman and their situation in my country, its one of my main aims helping to strengten the woman rights. Exspecially I am fighting against female gential mutilation which is still practiced a lot in my country. So I am doing music to dance but with a social claim.
