"Carew Entertains for FoAL (Corey LeBlanc)"

"They were amazing," [Stan] Carew told the audience of Sister Kate, who had only heard them on My Space pages. ... "They have something fresh and they are going to have some great success," Carew added. - The Casket

"Review of Damhnait Doyle concert at StFX (Stephanie Kent)"

"They had an old-school and folksy sound, complimented well by vocalist Betsy's crisp, conversational tone and her rich low range. They played mostly original songs that were simple but well-played and definted by cute lyrics, simple harmonies, and a very tight rhythm section." - The Xaverian Weekly

Bio

Sister Kate came together in the summer of 2007 when cousins Tricia and Betsy and their friend Greg were in Antigonish for the summer. We had a number of 'impromptu' jam sessions and shows, and eventually started performing with Greg's brother Brendan on drums. At the end of the summer, everyone went their separate ways to work, study, etc. However, a 'fortunate accident' landed us all in Antigonish again the following summer, and Sister Kate was born! The name 'Sister Kate' comes from the title of a 1920s song by Clarence Williams and Armand Piron, one of the first covers we ever performed together.
