Bio
Sister Province is the band project of Derek Giberson, a piano/organ/keyboard player involved in diverse musical projects with a diversity of musicians working and creating in southern Ontario.
The group, with rock at it's basis, ties together his many influences - rock, soul, funk, blues, jazz, folk and more - into a musical foray based on strong composition, creative exploration and rock-solid, captivating live performances.
Contributing members include Dwayne Christie of Wildlife on drums and long-time collaborator Brian Wallace on bass, with a guitar player for live shows to be announced.
With over 500 shows over the past 5 years, Derek has supported many artists, playing numerous venues in Toronto including Lee's Palace, C'est What, The Horseshoe, The Rivoli, The Big Bop, The Opera House, The Tranzac, The Cameron House, Smiling Buddha, Steamwhistle Brewery, Lula Lounge, Orbit Room, Graffiti, Bread & Circus, Harlem's, Liberty Bistro, Gate 403, The Boat, and others, while playing all over southern Ontario including Niagara Falls, Kingston, Owen Sound, London, Waterloo, Oshawa, Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, Belleville, Huntsville, Cobourg, and more.
Some of the artists he has worked and recorded with include Trish Robb, Heather Luckhart, Christianne, Joe Roncetti, Doug Hell, and others, and he has played live with a wide variety of musicians, such as Paige Armstrong, CarolynT, Tony Rabalao, Jeff Eager, Mike Slute, Al Webster, Rob "Bubba" Brown, Elena Kapeleris, Rob Bulger, and others, including a two-and-a-half year weekend residency with heavy-rock power group The Beggars at the Hideout on Queen in Toronto.
He also plays keys with The Champion Heartache, who are putting finishing touches on their 2nd album, due in the spring of 2010.
