The Sister Wives are a new rock band hailing from Toronto, Ontario. Their sound is defined by powerful electric guitar and bass, driving drums and sweetened up with catchy keyboard hooks. Add to this rich, melodic voices and energetic lyrics and the Sister Wives are a well-rounded alternative rock band whose appeal is not limited to any sex or age. The Sister Wives' name hints at their interest in popular media. It highlights the major players in the strange saga involving an entire polygamist community's run in with Texan state authorities in 2008, which caught the attention in of international media.
The Sister Wives consist of 4 camera-friendly members: Kelly Holloway on keyboards, Nora Loreto on guitar, Rose Da Costa on bass and Jesse Greener--the only male in the band--on drums. Singing duty is shared by all members, but is carried primarily by Nora's strong alto voice.
The Sister Wives bring together a rich set of musical experiences. These range from gigging heavy rock acts, professional church organ, jazz ensembles and internationally touring choral choirs. In addition to individual experience with various instruments, every member is trained on piano and music theory and has vocal experience.
Complementing their strong musical talent, the Sister Wives all have significant experience with public speaking and media interviews. This comes from the band members' shared experience coordinating student activism on college and university campuses in Ontario and British Columbia. More than a zest for rallying a crowd or a familiarity with microphones and cameras in their faces, the Sister Wives have established networks on Canadian campuses, which includes student union leadership and campus entertainment networks.
Themes involve real, down-to-earth issues like standing standing strong amid poor job prospects, high tuition fees, and old white men calling all the shots. The Sister Wives' are aiming to resonate with listeners with a perfect mix of fun and seriousness called for by today's world economy.
In the end, music is the religion of choice for these sister wives, and they hope to spread their gospel far and wide.
