BandRockAlternative

Sitcom plays rock n roll as it is meant to be played: raw, aggressive and soaringly beautiful. It is music that forces it's way into your subconscious and stays there. Sitcom is Toronto's next real contribution to the international world of music.

Biography

Sitcom is a band comprised of three young men from Toronto, Ontario with interesting hairstyles and a tenuous grasp on the concept of irony. It only makes sense that they would form an indie rock band! Risen from the ashes of two formerly great Toronto rock bands (The Awesome Team and The Ol’ 55s), they have come together with a common goal: to rescue rock music from mediocrity, to restore validity and artistry to a suffering musical genre, and to sell out and make ass-loads of money as quickly as possible. Their influences come from a variety of places, such as the fascinating new wave/punk scene of the late 70’s, early 80’s (The Clash, Elvis Costello, Talking Heads), the rock scene of the early 90’s (Nirvana, Pavement, Faith No More), and the current new breed of rock (Kings Of Leon, Arcade Fire, Band Of Horses). Though these bands have provided a great deal of inspiration, Sitcom’s music is clearly innovative and original. They really deliver the best of both worlds, providing thoughtful lyrics just begging to be dissected by music nerds, while at the same time providing a fun, aggressive beat for idiots to spazz out to. I introduce you now to the gentlemen of Sitcom:
Casey grew up in a small town where there was little more to do than drink Labbat’s 50 and write shitty punk songs. He has since refined his writing style, and brought his hard wrought songs to the Sitcom table. He is clearly an angry little fellow with something very real to say.
Joey grew up in another small town where his acerbic humour and brilliant musicianship quickly made him a Kirkland Lake legend. Joey’s bass work creates a melody all its own.
Jeff grew up in Toronto, picked up the drums a scant few years ago, and has since become one of the most talented drummers in the scene. It should be noted that the other members of Sitcom mercilessly poached him from his former band, and feel no remorse for it.
We are Sitcom. Thank you for your time.

Lyrics

Conduit

Written By: Casey Lyons

My human brain,
My super human conscience,
Public collective,
Have chosen me to be a conduit.

And if I had more time to spend,
I'd stick around and make you understand,
But I got no time for myself,
I must preserve the public health.

Some may say it's fear,
Say that's why I can't relax,
Or find something that's real,
But real is a subjective term.

And if I had more time to spend,
I'd stick around and make you understand,
But my time is not my own,
Your shit is better left alone.

Outside he struts,
Inside he throws up,
It's a little messed up I guess,
It's degrading but it's entertaining!

And if I had more time to spend,
I might finally put this fucker to bed,
but being in love's scarier than being alone,
So you could probably just go home.

Epic Fight

Written By: Casey Lyons

I've seen how you live in a mirror,
Half undressed and entirely devoured by fear,
And I bet it kills you.

In a world so concerned with the way that you feel,
No amount of cocaine gonna make you real,
And I hope it kills you.

You had no right to take away,
The epic fight between my mind and my face,
You had no right.

When the man comes to take you down a peg,
And your only solution is to open your legs,
I bet it kills you.

You had no right to take away,
The epic fight between my mind and my face,
You had no right.

She Wore No Valentine

Written By: Casey Lyons

Girl who like to waste my time,
Ask me to make up her mind.

You say you don't mind,
You say you don't mind,
You don't look like you don't mind,
She wore no valentine.

Girl who say what yours is mine,
Girl will say DON'T TOUCH THAT'S MINE!

You say you don't mind,
You say you don't mind,
You don't look like you don't mind,
She wore no valentine.

Something to Think About

Written By: Casey Lyons

Little flashes of light, little victories sustain you.
How are you supposed to know yourself when life keeps trying to change you?

It's something to think about.

From turning on the town to turning on your friends.
Things you used to allow threaten your common sense.

Heaven knows, or maybe not.
And you're telling me that's the best that you've got?

One thing you haven't said regarding this design.
These things you put to bed will wake up given time.

Heaven knows, or maybe not.
And you're telling me that's the best that you've got?

Come into this house,
Put down your fight,
We'll give you new life,
If you'll admit we were right.

Hand yourself in,
Stop being strong,
We'll give you new life,
If you'll admit you were wrong.

It's something to think about.

Love Exploder

Written By: Joey Clement

You're not going anywhere so stop,
And pick up what you dropped on the floor the night before.

And don't you even think about your clothes,
A secret know one knows is all around,
Just know that you won't let the secret get out.

Love exploder, holy roller, love is in my eyes, hate is on my mind.

Leave you lying in the dark unseen, where no one hears you scream, you'll still be here, when Sunday comes, and I'll explain why you run.

Love exploder, holy roller, love is in my eyes, hate is on my mind.

Pacified

Written By: Casey Lyons

Take this as fact, 'cause TV wouldn't lie to you.
These cards are stacked against you and there's not a lot a man can do.

Close your eyes, this shit's better if you're pacified.

Buy me a coke and front seats to the massacre.
Since truth ain't absolute and perspective can be sold like a pair of sweatshop nikes.

Close your eyes, you'll sleep better if your pacified.

Little dog gonna bite now!

Consume, consume pretty nuclear family,
Pretty soon, pretty soon, irony'll consume your entire family.

Close your eyes, this is better if you're pacified.
Close you eyes, you'll sleep better if you're pacified.
