Yet another classically- musician turned rebel singer-songwriter. A 70's relic recently updated
to a rockin' piano mama also known to throw in a little ragtime, blues
and tender tributes to great people who've gone before me.
A rare California to East Coast transplant, I've been a fixture in
Boston since 1981, playing college campuses, Asian cultural
festivals, and appearing on radio and TV. Lately I've been
hitting the open mics and coffeehouses again with trusty
keyboard in tow.
Early songwriting influences include the usual three J's--Judy, Joan and Joni, followed
by Carole King, Janis Ian, plus the feminist songwriters, among them
Holly Near and Cris Williamson. Lately my piano style has taken on
a rhythmic edge and I enjoy jamming with a local blues band.
