BandRock

Six by 9 performs an energetic yet melodic original rock and popular covers from the Beatles and the Clash to Bush and Green Day.

Biography

An indeterminate time ago at an undisclosed location, a band that was not Six By 9 formed. It had no future, no hopes, and no talent. It did, however, contain two of the eventual members of Six By 9.

Time passed and a few survivors of the band decided to keep it going. This was The Grand Facade. There was really no telling just how far this band wouldn't go, nor how fast it wouldn't get there.

Unfortunately, the band fell to two. But after the marriage to a mysterious woman with musical leanings, this odd trio decided to make an album. This done, The Grand Facade came to a halt as the misguided crew were lured by careers promising no security or fulfillment.

It took many years, but the obscure dream which still called to them finally woke them up. Embolded with new determination, the three decided to streamline their music and pursue it again, but this time as their passion and purpose. They designated themselves Six By 9 and their goal is to take you on an emotional rollercoaster ride that will--hopefully--leave the listener breathless and exhilirated.

Charmed Life

Written By: Six by 9

I really screwed the pooch today
Took everything I’ve earned
And threw it all away
See I always wanted to sing
Even tho I may not be very good
So here I am with a six pack of beer
And a half eaten can of cat food

So if god looks after drunks and fools
I’m ready to live my charmed life

So the agent won’t call anymore
And the bookers don’t know my name
When I come in through the door
And the rent is late getting paid
If I could I’m pretty sure that I would
but I’ve got nothing to worry about
If I did it wouldn’t do any good

And if god takes care of drunks and fools
I’m ready to live my charmed life

Dream she said
Dare to dream she said
But only part time
Don’t forget there’s flowers to buy
And that house of mine

I really screwed the pooch today
Took everything I’ve earned
And threw it all away
See I always wanted to sing
Even tho I may not be very good
So here I am with a six pack of beer
And a half eaten can of cat food

Sleep

Written By: Six by 9

i had a dream
about a girl
i’ve never seen
we rode in a parade
of old wooden bleachers
past a queen
we laughed and kissed
told stories i can’t repeat
and now i wish
i could go back to sleep

i had a dream
about a girl
i never met
we swam
in a vat of brandy
and never got wet
she told me
this was the happiest she’d ever be
god i wish
i could go back to sleep

sometimes life get’s warped
i know i bring it on myself
upside down to do lists
and lovers on the shelf
it’s good to get away
but some comforts you just can’t keep
sometimes it’s hard to get back to sleep

i had a dream
about a girl
i never knew
before i woke
she started to cry
and the ceiling won’t tell me why
some comforts you just can’t keep
sometimes it’s hard to get back to sleep
god i wish
I could go back to sleep

Shut Up

Written By: Six by 9

Sleep but don’t rest
Love but don’t touch
Dodge the bullets fired in serenity
And blush without blood

It’s alright
I don’t get it either
But it’s done everyday
Done everyday
With the ones who push away
Using your pull
To leave and stay

Go but slow down
Gently get rough
Fix me I’m not broken
Oh talk but shut up

It’s alright
I don’t get it either
To be where you’ve never been
Where you’ve never been
Like the ones that pull you in
Using your push
To lose and win

Give
It’s good to give
Give ‘til it hurts
You’re a good man Charlie Brown
But no one really cares if it’s a curse
Man you hardly smile
And when you do it’s an obligation
Why can’t you join the knife twist celebration
Even if it’s in you
Don’t bring the rest of us down

It’s alright

Sleep but don’t rest
Go but slow down
Love but don’t touch
Gently get rough
Dodge the bullets fired in serenity
Oh talk but shut up
Talk but shut up
Talk but shut up

Shut up

It’s alright
