Bio

"6ep delivers the warmth and music culture of that great Texas town. The new songs are great. Neko Case and Janis Joplin, please stand by." – Chord Magazine

From Texas's diverse, ever-evolving music scene emerges new talent on the home front. Six Easy Pieces, a dynamic, female-fronted foursome from the "live music capital," delivers distinctive pop-rock songs with evident singer song-writer roots and moving vocals heard on the outside and felt on the inside. With influences ranging from Natalie Merchant and Jewel to Patrice Pike and KT Tunstall, 6ep's standout melodies and intelligent, meaningful lyrics attract a wide range of listeners, from mainstream to indie, rock/pop enthusiasts to acoustic/folk lovers.

Formed as a singer/song-writer duo in 1997 by Julie Mayne (vocals, guitar) and Sonny Bihl (lead and rhythm guitar), 6ep built a loyal, local following, playing Austin area venues and coffee houses. Joined by their good friend Joseph Barschow (drums) in 2001, the trio played gigs regularly for the next few years. They ventured out of Austin, into larger venues and festivals, including Bayfest in Corpus Christi, TX, with a festival attendance of over 100,000. Six Easy Pieces continues to build their local and regional fan base, and have played over 100 shows in the last three years. 6ep recently found their fourth member, bassist Tim Bolender from Kentucky.

Six Easy Pieces released a self-titled, three-song EP in the fall of 2006. The EP has been well- received by fans who have long awaited a well-recorded and mixed representation of the band's talent. Six Easy Pieces will return to the studio to knock out a complete album in 2007. They will continue to perform while promoting the EP, and keep their residency (held since May 2006) at a high-profile Austin restaurant and brewery. These four driven artists have all the ingredients necessary to succeed in today’s ever-changing music industry: talent, undeniable passion, loyalty and commitment to their dream.
