Bio

Brewed in the Northwest, Six-Pack of Blues blends classic blues and driving rock back beats, delivering a performance that brings a crowd to its feet and keeps ‘em there with some of the greasiest blues tunes ever written. The name may seem a little strange, considering the band’s lineup as a five-piece, but as lead singer and harp player Joe Marino frequently explains, “The Sixth Brew is all about You”, referring to the growing fan base the band has entertained.

Drawing from legendary acts such as Little Charlie and the Nightcats, Long John Hunter and Maurice John Vaughn, the music you’ll hear from Six-Pack is not your every day garden-variety blues. The songs are recognizable and danceable yet decidedly off the over-beaten-track of standards. In breathing their own vitality and energy into these once-forgotten favorites, Six-Pack of Blues awakens the notion that they are much more than just another blues cover-band.

This past year has been one of growth and evolution for Six-Pack. Much of it has been spent rehearsing, refining and polishing four-hours’-worth of music. Along the way they have been invited to play a number of shows, including two at Jake’s Ales in Federal Way and two at The Swiss tavern in Tacoma. In October, the band was asked to play at Randy Oxford’s Beeline to Memphis. This event raised money to send Randy’s award-winning band to Tennessee to compete in the International Blues Challenge, the largest annual gathering of Blues bands in the world. The South Sound Blues Association was at the fundraiser and in their November, 2005 newsletter stated “If you haven’t heard Joe Marino on harp and vocals and Rick Wagner on bass yet, you must catch their show soon”. Attention to detail and meticulous preparation have paid off, as Six-Pack of Blues is fully-loaded and ready to provide an evening’s entertainment to eager blues fans.
