Siya Makuzeni Is fast becoming a South African Jazz notable. Describing herself as a vocalist, trombone player, composer, arranger and a music producer, she is making waves in the South African scene with her undeniable talent. Fusing multiple genres within her performances, she played two shows at the 2016 National Arts festival in Grahamstown accompanied by her newly formed band that she hopes will enable her to push her career forward. Every year the small town of Grahamstown in South Africa’s Eastern Cape hosts the National Arts Festival.
The 11-day festival showcases the best of what the country has to offer in the creative arts sector.
One of this year's performers, jazz musician Siya Makuzeni, sings and plays the trombone.

Siya Makuzeni is well known for her extensive musical range ,vocal dexterity ,experimental creativity, her passion for symbiotic cross - genre influences; and her band Siya Makuzeni Sextet present the amalgamation and embodiment of Makuzeni's skills as a solo artist. The Sextet fuses traditional jazz instrumentation with modern electronic effects and chant-like Afro-influenced loops and soundscapes ; ensemble-like harmonised vocal pads and the repertoire travels from Mbaqanga grooves , soulful ballads and polyphonic rhythms to small combo jazz.
