VALDOSTA — The annual Brown Bag Lunch Concert Series returns this week to Downtown Valdosta.
With five area bands over five days, the concert series is a great opportunity to hear some of Valdosta’s sounds of music. The line-up is The River, Daddy’s Money, Six String Sammy, Lowndes High School Jazz Ensemble, Skannyardle. But it is also a great opportunity to visit Downtown Valdosta. Regulars won’t be surprised by the many changes and the on-going renaissance of Downtown Valdosta. If you haven’t been downtown since last year’s Brown Bag Lunch Concert Series, you’re in for a treat in how much the area continues to evolve.
With more downtown restaurants open, there are more opportunities to pick up a to-go order before stopping for the music on the Lowndes County Courthouse Square. Or bring your own lunch, listen to some music, then take a look around downtown before heading back to the office.
SHOWTIME

SKANNYARDLE: Friday
One of Valdosta’s longest-running bands plays everything from local clubs, private engagements and events like the Brown Bag series. The secrets to Skannyardle’s on-going success: A strong core of founding members, a willingness to add new members, the courage to perform challenging cover songs that many of the original bands rarely performed live, and the versatility to keep some songs in its line-up for 15 years while always, always, learning new songs to add to the band’s repertoire. - Dean Poling The Valdosta Daily Times
