"OMG. WTF. WOW. - Skate Night! (self-released)"

New Orleans finally has a queer indie electro-pop band synth-lovers everywhere need to know about. Dylan Ysaguire, Rose Mathis, and Sam Houston bring the booty beats and queer aesthetic on this seven-song EP. "Booty Police" is a Peaches-meets-JJ-Fad tongue twister, while cuts like "Sex Mirage" take me back to the moody New Wave of my youth.

Bio

Dylan Ysaguire, Rose Mathis, and Sam Houston have spent years playing in multiple rock bands, both in New Orleans, LA, and Austin, TX.

By the summer of 2009, their various projects had disbanded, and the trio decided to begin working together. Forgoing their familiar rock setup, the group exchanged their electric guitars for a Korg and an “antique” Yamaha keyboard, and dropped rock angst in favor of electronic exuberance. Skate Night! was born. The lineup was complete by the winter of 2010, when drummer and metal veteran Dustin Crops joined the group.

Skate Night! embraces and revives the dance and pop music of the 80’s and early 90’s, mixing it with a DIY spirit and queer aesthetic. Skate Night! is a musical oddity, drawing equally from artists like Depeche Mode, Salt N Pepa, The Smiths, JJ Fad, and Cyndi Lauper, delivering flashy, beat-heavy songs with hooks that practically force you to dance. They have just released their debut EP, “OMG. WTF. WOW.”, are working on their first series of music videos, and are currently playing shows throughout the southeast.
