Bio

Sketch : Bio: For over a decade, Sketch has been honing his skills as an Emcee. A true student of the art of rhyming, Sketch is constantly working to expand his song writing capabilities. Surrounded by several of Virginia’s most talented, young producers, he is one of the industry’s finest up and coming artists. At the young age of 15, Sketch began battling and writing songs. By the age of 16, he was recording in studios, learning from experienced producers and engineers. Known throughout the DMV area as a ferocious lyricist, Sketch showed he could write more than battle tracks as he recorded the street albums Game Over and Wild Irish Rose in 2000 and 2001. Wild Irish Rose received critical acclaim in one of hip-hop’s top publications, Insomniac Magazine (Issue 19). Sketch was also featured in The Herndon Connection newspaper in August of 2002 with a full-page plus three pictures spread. 2003 was a great year for Sketch as he was invited to Atlanta as the opening act for the group Clipse at Club SPF-15 in Buckhead NBA All-Star Weekend. Sketch has gone on to open for stars such as Raekwon, Jadakiss and D-Block, Lupe Fiasco, Jeru da Damaja, Jin, Mr. Lif and Akrobatik. After winning a very competitive battle at Club Datalus in DC in 2004, Sketch received an invitation from Rane (WPGC 95.5 radio host) to battle live on air for the WPGC 95.5 Friday Night Mic Fights. Sketch won seven consecutive weeks and was on for a total of eight weeks. Also, Sketch released a mixtape titled “60 Minutes” in 2004, which has received amazing feedback and reviews. Sketch is a true battle emcee, but makes it very clear that he is a songwriter first and foremost. Sketch is an artist that is extremely well rounded and able to capture the underground and mainstream audiences. 2005 was also an incredible year for Sketch because he was able to work with many well known industry artists. He did a song with Illa Ghee, who featured on the Mobb Deep classic album “Hell on Earth”, as well as the Alchemist single “Hold You Down”, which features Alchemist, Prodigy and Nina Sky. A few months later Sketch did another smash single with Trife da God, who is the head of super group Theodore Unit and has been featured on numerous Ghostface Killah albums. 2006 was another great year for Sketch as he has been doing shows nonstop and finalized his most recent album titled “ill”. Sketch started off 2007 with a bang by earning The Source Magazines’ January 2007 Unsigned Hype. Sketch saw his dream become a reality once he began working with Washington DC based Inner Loop Records in 2008/2009. The most recent project that Sketch has in the works is a brand new album with underground phenom producer J-$crilla (also of Inner Loop Records). This album is set to drop late summer / early fall 2010. With the amount of shows and fans Sketch is gaining recently, he has definitely earned the respect of listeners worldwide. He is a relentless writer, a student of hip-hop, and one of the most talented, raw lyricists to come along in quite some time.
