Bio

"There are many things you can do to yourself…. but it feels so much better when they're done by someone else"
How true.
It's a cry from the heart of every angry, love-starved young man, wondering what he has to do to get a girl, wondering why life isn't quite how he thought it might be, waiting for someone to tell him what to do...
"GO GO, GET YOUR LOVER!"
Sketchbeat have the answers, and over 5,000 fans across the UK agree that the band rocks their truth with their rock/funk/hip-hop blend of monster grooves.

Since they exploded onto stage in 2007 with the iconic 'MY MAMA SAID', Sketchbeat have packed out London venues including Cargo, 93 Feet East, Dingwalls, Hoxton Bar & Grill, Borderline & Barfly. London Lite describe them as 'a hotly tipped unsigned act'. The public voted Sketchbeat into the final of Guitar Hero's Best Live Act at the 2008 Indy awards.

Lead singer Paul, 25, on guitar and harmonica, Mike, 26, on trumpet, keyboard and guitar, Rich, 24, on bass and Ed, 26, on drums are about to release their debut self-titled EP.
Channelling the humour and harmonies of Queen, the attitude and funk of James Brown and the sonic vocal stylings of the Chili Peppers and Zeppelin, Sketchbeat are more than boys with guitars. Gig goers have had enough of whining self interest - it's time to get hot and angry on the dance floor! Jazz trumpet bounces off guitar riffs, punching melodies ride high over bellowing harmonies, four young men sing of 'EDDIE THE EAGLE' and drive along their pounding new sound.
This summer, the lads whipped festival crowds into a frenzy with their funk-fuelled stage show at Standon Calling, Kendal Calling and Secret Garden Party. Playing alongside The Wombats and Scouting for Girls, they wowed audiences at university balls. Sketchbeat were even spotted by PopBitch jamming with Lembit Opik MP in Parliament.
BBC DJs tell their listeners Sketchbeat are a ‘breakthrough band’, The London Paper ranks them in the 'top three things to do in London', and Rock Sound describe them as 'heroic funk nutters'. Sketchbeat tracks are being played on online and local radio stations UK-wide: BBC Oxford, BBC Hereford & Worcester, Jump Radio; their songs SAFE IN MY MIND and TALL HATS & TRUNCHEONS feature on two extreme sports videos.

Sketchbeat’s EP will be out in Spring 2009.
