Skexies

Skexies

BandRockAlternative

Skexies - an all-girl, power trio from Milwaukee - forges eclectic influences like Sleater Kinney, Bikini Kill, Janes Addiction, Nirvana and Joan Jett into a jagged, yet focused melodic-punk sound that has been compared to the Lunachicks, Tracy Bonham and Veruca Salt.

Biography

The trio's songs have won praise for being "well-written musically" and "fantastic lyrically." Their vocals cover ground that is often intensely personal, sarcastic, socially critical, and have been hailed as "dynamic, emotional, and cocky." Their aggressive, yet melodic music is especially appealing to people with short attention spans, as their songs are usually no more than 3 minutes in length.

Since the formation of Skexies in December of 2002, they have played across the Midwest including: Lansing, MI (LadyFest Lansing 2004), Columbus, OH (LadyFest Ohio 2004), Madison, WI, Stevens Point, WI and various venues in and around Southeastern, Wisconsin.

In an incredible honor, Skexies was hailed as International Marketing Group's "Artist of the Month - November, 2003" – www.imgmusicproductions.com.

Radio stations currently spinning the band include: WLUM (Milwaukee), WLZR (Milwaukee), WMSE (Milwaukee) and WWSP (Steven's Point).
