Lyrics

Madison Street

Written By: Sheila Kirsten Hughes

There's a ferris wheel spinning 'round
Near the corner store where it's going down
It is going down
And she'll break
As he bleeds

Seems like yesterday, just a child with a dream
But this world shook him round, tore the dreamer down,
And left him crying out for more
And she tried so hard to save him
She'd cry "Run baby, run! Run baby, run!
Don't you let them take you down!"
Hear the shots ring out
Feel the darkness fall

She'll cry "Oh, oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah"

See the street lights glow
Over Madison Street
Watch the world go blind as the threats pour down
Threats are pouring down
'Cause nobody saw nothing
That's the way it's gotta be
If you wanna see another day, you keep your mouth shut
You say you never saw a thing
See the children run
As the lights go out

They cry "Oh, oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah"

There's a carnival near Madison Street
The roller coaster ride will turn you upside down
Turn you upside down

"Oh, oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh
Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah"

Let It Rain Down

Written By: Sheila Kirsten Hughes

Jesse held her hands out and tried to stop it
And Jimmy tried to save you, but it was all for nothing
And now you're standing on my front porch, your tears are fallin' down
What would you have me do? You're on your own now

Let it rain down

You were standing on the train tracks in the pouring rain
And that train was coming so fast, it'd take you down
But you never did listen, had to find out for yourself
Flashing lights and sirens turned every eye on you
Just like you wanted

CHORUS:
Let it rain, there's trouble in your fingers
Let it rain, there's a fire in your soul
Let it rain down,
Let it rain
If it's what you need

It's a lonely road to walk, but it's time you take it
We've given all we can give, it's time you make it on your own
Though you cry in the night there'll be no one there to hear you
No more stories 'bout a wolf
Who's teeth marks never showed

Let it rain, there's trouble in your fingers
Let it rain, there's a fire in your soul
Let it rain down,
Let it rain down,

Oh let it rain down
Let it rain down
Let it rain down
Let it rain down
If it's what you need

Went down to the river to wash away these sins
If this is all said and done, tell me why does it feel like this?
There's a trembling in my soul, there's a peace that just won't come
I find myself thinking 'bout you and wonder what went wrong

Oh, but let it rain down if it's what you need
Just let it rain down

I Will Not Go Down

Written By: Sheila Kirsten Hughes

There's a man on the corner
Giving out rays of sunshine
But he ain't got one for you & me

The weary nation
The lost generation
We're going under, he says, we're goin' down

I need to feel it
Feel it comin' around

We've been searching for comfort
In the neon signs
They ask no questions, they just buzz us by

Where will we go when the lights go from green to red
They move us forward
They hold us back

I will not go down
No I will not go down

I need to feel you
Feel you comin' around
Or am I alone

There's an answer in the questions
'Cause there's a lie in their reasons why
But we're getting closer
If we don't give in

We will not go down

If there was one star shining in the night sky
If there's one star shining we'd be alright
But the sky grew dark when the moon hit her head
And the sun went wild when he was turned away

(chanting) It'll be alright, It'll be alright, It'll be alright, It'll be alright,

Don't you give in
Sing it with me, yeah
We will not go down
Don't you give in
Sing it with me, yeah
We will not go down

Forever We Shall Be

Written By: Sheila Kirsten Hughes

My love, walk with me
Through the fields, and forever we shall be

In the field stands a tiny flower
Fervently in bloom
And though it tries to unfold toward the sky
Its time has not yet come
Oh, oh, oh-oh, and the sun goes down

The moon shines bright on its puerile leaves
The stars have lost their way
In the cold of this darkened night
It patiently awaits
Oh, oh, oh-oh, for a new day to come

My love, walk with me
Through the fields, and forever we shall be

Another day, just the same as before
But something soon will change
One by one, the pedals unfold
And two will come to see
Oh, oh, oh-oh, two young lovers will come to see

Kneeling down to find the perfect flower
Only one will do
When his eyes fall upon this new bloom
He plucks it from the earth
Marry me, my love
And forever we shall be

My love
Forever we shall be

Now as the life slowly drains from its stem
It's purpose now complete
It's pedals glow with resounding joy
Like nothing ever seen
Oh, oh, oh-oh, in its death meets destiny

My love, forever we shall be

Different People

Written By: Sheila Kirsten Hughes

Somewhere he is marching
To the end of his road
Puts his hand to his forhead
To salute us as he goes

Somewhere in a schoolyard
They make fun of the little girl
But she just swallows the tear drops
And never says one single word

So many different people
So many different lives
So many beautiful faces
So many stories in their eyes
And I only know a few
But I never took the time to get to know you
Get to know you like I could

Somewhere she is kneeling
With a gun in her hand
Wipes the tears from her crying eyes
She points the barrel to her head

But then a voice stops the trigger
Someone's calling her name
She tiptoes to the window
She's smiles when she sees his moonlit face

So many different people
So many different lives
So many beautiful faces
So many stories in their eyes
And I only know a few
But I never took the time to get to know you
Get to know you like I could

Somewhere stands a tatooed man
Clothed in leather and chains and spikes
Makes you scared to go near him
But you wouldn't be so scared if you knew his reasons why

Why he holds you at a distance
Why his heart can't be found
He locked it up in his fortress
The day they tore him up, the day they broke him down

So many different people
So many different lives
So many beautiful faces
So many stories in their eyes
And I only know a few
But I never took the time to get to know you
Get to know you like I could

Fly

Written By: Sheila Kirsten Hughes

I don't know where I'm going
Don't know which way to turn
I may not know where I'm going
But I do know a new day will come

Better times are comin'
I can feel it in the air
Feel it swelling below me
I'm gonna spread my wings and fly

And I know, yes I know that it hurts here
And I know, yes I know that we try so hard
But I know that if we spread our wings
We will all fly
We will all fly

So there ain't no use in cryin'
There ain't no reason for these tears
Though hell may be all around
I know that heaven is just a breath away

And I know, yes I know that it hurts here
And I know, yes I know that we try so hard
But I know that if we spread our wings
We will all fly
We will all fly

Spread your wings and fly
Spread your wings and fly
Spread your wings and fly
Spread your wings and fly
Though outside it may be raining
These dark clouds will break
And we'll finally see the sun
And we will all fly
We will all fly
We will all fly

I feel it in the air (we will all fly)
I feel it in my soul (we will all fly)
I feel it in my heart (we will all fly)
Spread your wings and fly

Feel it in the air (we will all fly)
Feel it in your soul (we will all fly)
Feel it in your heart (we will all fly)
Spread your wings and fly

Get up off your feet (we will all fly)
Get up off your seat (we will all fly)
Reach for the sky (we will all fly)
Spread your wings and fly

Lay It Down

Written By: Sheila Kirsten Hughes

I have not been swayed
Yet I have taken side
And even now love wages war
With hatred in my mind

But, oh, I will not be shaken
By the hands that shook me
I won't be hostage to the thoughts
That seek to overtake me

Who are you, what is your name?
You know, they say we're not the same
And that the color of your skin
Is what we are to blame

For all the violence in the streets
And murder on the mind
For every single drop of blood
From every single crime, but

CHORUS:
I want to, I want to lay it down
I want to, I wanna turn (this) (my) life around
I want to lay it down, I want to lay it down

I've listened at a distance
I've held you at arms length
I haven't let you get too close
Have not looked in your face

For fear that I might see you smile
And it might change my view
And if I look into your eyes
I just might learn to love you

CHORUS

And when I lay it down, I'll turn around and see the beauty of your face
Telling me it's time to change, telling me
I have been unholy, I have been unkind (repeat)

CHORUS

Behind My Eyes

Written By: Sheila Kirsten Hughes

I wander these rolling hills
I walk through my day in my mind
Feel the chill of a wind on my face
From memories frozen in time

The smoke from my breath circles round
It conjuers up ghosts from the ground
There's swords in their hands and they're fighting an endless war
It's the circle of life and it's pulling me in

If I could just change my mind
If I could just change my mind
If I could just change my mind
If I could just change I might be free

Musical Bridge. . .

I'm tracking my enemies down
Got one cornered in the mirror hiding behind my eyes
There's blood on her hands and her tongue is a sharpened sword
She stabs me with her words, it's a torrid affair
But I always pull through

If I could just change my mind
If I could just change my mind
If I could just change my mind
If I could just change I might be free

Ad lib. . .

Too-ra-loo-ra-li

Written By: Sheila Kirsten Hughes

She tucks her in bed
And she kisses her cheek
Too-ra-loo-ra-li

She sings her a song
As she drifts off to sleep
Too-ra-loo-ra-li

She dreams of a land
Where the unicorns fly
To-ra-loo-ra-li

Where angels sing
From the clouds on high
To-ra-loo-ra-li

(Low) Too-ra-loo, too-ra-li, to-ra-loo-ra-li
(High) Too-ra-loo, too-ra-li, too-ra-loo-ra-li

Many years have passed
Since I dreamed such a dream
Too-ra-loo-ra-li

Unicorns have been plucked
Of their horns and their wings
Too-ra-loo-ra-li

Maybe if I believe
I'll remember the way
To the place I once did know

Where it's ok to dance
And it's ok to dream
And you're never considered too old

(Low) Too-ra-loo, too-ra-li, to-ra-loo-ra-li
(High) Too-ra-loo, too-ra-li, too-ra-loo-ra-li

Little child, when they tell you
That your time is up,
Remember this one thing

Don't you lose the map
Don't throw away the key
To the place where your dreams run free

(Low) Too-ra-loo, too-ra-li, to-ra-loo-ra-li
(High) Too-ra-loo, too-ra-li, too-ra-loo-ra-li
(High) Too-ra-loo, too-ra-li, too-ra-loo-ra-li

Set List

Music performed is all original, with the exception of a handful of uniquely arranged cover songs, such as a blazing rendition of Seal's "Crazy," a consistently monumental crowd pleaser for us. Show typically runs 2 to 2-1/2 hours in length. Performances include a blending of organic acoustic sounds with electronically triggered undertones, such as sequencing and percussion, and are growing to include video projection and lighting affects.
