"CD Review: Ski Bunny Suicide"

Recently Formed Blues Rock band Ski Bunny Suicide has released an EP/CD with 5 original tunes and 3 "original" covers. Locals Tony Jefferson (vocals, harmonica, guitar), George West (bass, vocals), Mike Lacey (drums, vocals) and Todd Carter (guitar) have laid down a strong intial offering.

The Title Track "Sideways Man" begins with a Lou Reed meets Iowa seminal band House of Large Sizes in sound and feel. Second track is Fish Market Blues is a straight forward slow grinding blues rock track in the vain of many of the classics. Tony Jefferson picks up the harp and melds it with the blues riffs. "Heavy to Run" brings a different sort of range. The remaining songs continue in this straight forward style. "Want/Need" pulls out some punk influence.

The remainder of the cd takes you through some hand picked blues cover songs. Ski Bunny Suicide takes the sound back to our classic blues rock influences like Zepplin, Stones, and Jimmy Hendricks. It will be exciting to see them round out their orignals and move to a full length LP. If you are a fan of live music in this vein check them out and pick up a cd. You won't be disapponted.

Bio

This is deceptively simple, back-to-basics rock music that no honest American can help but enjoy.
It's terrific, lively and fun.
It's soulful, high-impact scuzz-blues that hits just below the belt.
