Skinny Velvet

 Charlotte, North Carolina, USA

The Carolina's Most Dangerous Band! Based in Charlotte, NC, Skinny Velvet travels the South bringing their blues infused rock with them. Skinny can go from a 70's Funk groove to a Texas blues jam in a Memphis minute! Skinny made the Semi Finals at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis!

“Skinny Velvet”--- One part Rock, One part Blues, add a dash of 70’s era Funk and Soul, then shake until you hear the “groove”. As quoted by a fan, “Skinny Velvet is the Carolina’s Most Dangerous Band!”

Skinny Velvet is: Philipp Barry (New Jersey)- on Drums Ben Robinson (Fla)- on Guitar and Vocals and Jim Bolt (S.C.) on Bass and Vocals.

Over the years these talented musicians have shared
festival stages with ZZ Top, Ted Nugent, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, Bonnie Raitt, Kenny Wayne Shepperd, John Michael Montgomery, Hubert Sumlin, Delbert McClinton, Tommy Castro...and the list goes on!

Ben Robinson has been booked on such shows as The Late Show with David Letterman, Donny and Marie, Martin Short and he even pulled a stint with super drummer Tony Royster Jr. in the Nickelodeon super band produced by Paul Shafer.

Of Ben's performance on the Letterman show Paul stated privately, and of course we are declassifying it, "Of all the guests that have ever sat in with the band, no one has ever done it like Ben". Commenting on a recent performance, Legendary guitarist Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top fame, had this to say about Ben, "I have seen a lot of smokin hot blues guitar players in my day, but I ain't never heard anyone like Ben".

Skinny Velvet is currently writing and recording their debut release, “Hassled and Hustled”, and are traveling the South Eastern U.S. playing any and everywhere. The group is looking for the future to bring bigger opportunities through hard work and persistence. 2012 promises to be a break-out year for the group as they make steps toward larger stages!
