BandPopSinger/Songwriter

My songs are an amalgamation of all generes of music. I have always felt that there should be no lines drawn when it comes to music. I write what I feel. I feel what I write... music with no boundaries.

Biography

I started writing songs about 20 years ago. I am also a filmmaker. My songs tend to have a visual tone and quality to them. That said, all of my songs are stories. I am heavily influenced by bands such as Pink Floyd, Dave Matthews, Sting, Don Henley, Bruce Hornsby, Tom Waits, Edwin McCain, Kenny Loggins, James Taylor, Bob Dylan, and hundreds of others. I am also heavily influenced by orchestral movie scores. Composers like Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, John Williams, James Newton Howard, and so many more.
I guess the thing that sets me apart from other bands is that, like I stated before, when I write songs I disregard what category it may or will fall into. My songs often can't be placed into specific categories.
I also produce other artists music. I play in other bands as well. I try to stay active in music as much as I can.

Lyrics

This House I Keep

Written By: skip erickson

Verse 1
Do you feel bad... for what you did to me?
Will you apologize... will you get on bended knee?
Are you gonna’ fail to answer… the question when it’s asked?
Are you gonna’ read the passage… are you gonna’ live the everlast?

Verse 2
40 days in the rein… walk a thousand miles of dust.
Will you ever learn to love… can you ever learn to trust?
Why is it that I’d die for you but not the same in return?
I’d sacrifice all I am without an ounce of your concern.

Chorus
Still I’ll give freely… my faith, my hope, my love.
You still resent me... say I’ll always push it all in your face.
And yet…
Still I love thee, no matter what you put me through…
You will always be welcome…
In this house I keep for you…

Guitar Solo

Bridge
Forgiven that you are… when you return I will embrace.
I will always love you… even when you spit in my face.

Chorus
Still I’ll give freely… my faith, my hope, my love.
You might still resent me… say I’ll always push it all in your face.
And yet…
Still I’ll love thee, no matter what you put me through…
You will always be welcome…
In this house I keep for you…
In this house I keep for you…

Reprise
Do you feel bad… for what you did to me?
Will you apologize… when will you love me?

No Matter How Far
Lyrics by skip erickson

Verse 1
Heading out our separate ways, following our dreams
Hoping that we’ll stay together is the hardest part it seems
Keep in contact, call me up; the phone goes both ways.
Write a letter, drop on by; you’ll always have a place to stay.

Chorus
No matter how far away… our feelings will be the same around here
Although the times may change… the ties between us remain the same
Nothing can replace… the dreams we made; our fear of the future
Friends we will stay… No matter how far away

Verse 2
We see our futures when we’re young, we make the perfect plan
To be together everyday or as much as we can.
But we grow older, face the truth, and the consequences too
No matter how far apart we are, I will always be with you.

Repeat Chorus

Solo

Chorus
Oh…
No matter how far away… our feelings will be the same around here
Although the times may change… the ties between us remain the same
Nothing can replace… the dreams we made; our fear of the future
Friends we will stay…
No matter how far…
No matter how far away
No matter how far away

confessions

confessions

Verse 1
I've got a confession,
I learned a lesson,
From the front seat of a taxi-cab.
Sometimes the truth hurts,
And other times a lie works,
Either way this life can be really sad.
One candid decision,
Another open opinion.
Just tales of pain in a big, big city.
Prejudice and heartache,
Crazy thoughts about love and hate.
Sympathy for only one’s self cuz for you they don’t give a damn.

Chorus
So on we try… to deal with life’s problems
When… all life’s problems lie in each of us.
Hail that cab, life is fare.
We tell our stories… how we confess.

Key solo

Verse 2
The dark-side of life,
Is ev’ryday for some people.
We choose to look away, and act like nothings wrong.
Steals our security,
Lose faith in all we see…
Oh, we gripe so much about the stupid things, we forget to look around.

Chorus
So on we try… to deal with life’s problems
When… all life’s problems come from each of us.
Hail that cab, life is fare.
We tell our stories… how we confess.
How we confess… we tell our stories.
Confessions… confessions.

Epilogue
So on we try… to deal with life’s problems
When… all life’s problems lie in each of us.
Hail that cab, you know life is fare.
We tell our stories…
We get no glory… when we confess.

My typical song list contains mostly my music, along with maybe a Kenny Loggins tune here or there. My sets are usually around 30 to 40 minutes, depending on where I'm put amongst other bands. I usually warm up other bands.
