For over 20 years, the American Songwriter Amateur Lyric Contest has helped thousands of songwriters become involved in our community. Established in 1984, America Songwriter magazine sponsors six contests per year that run in conjunction with each issue published. The winning lyric, along with four runners-up and ten honorable mentions from each contest, will be published in the issue of American Songwriter that follows the deadline of each contest.

Bio
I started writing songs about 20 years ago. I am also a filmmaker. My songs tend to have a visual tone and quality to them. That said, all of my songs are stories. I am heavily influenced by bands such as Pink Floyd, Dave Matthews, Sting, Don Henley, Bruce Hornsby, Tom Waits, Edwin McCain, Kenny Loggins, James Taylor, Bob Dylan, and hundreds of others. I am also heavily influenced by orchestral movie scores. Composers like Hans Zimmer, Danny Elfman, John Williams, James Newton Howard, and so many more.
I guess the thing that sets me apart from other bands is that, like I stated before, when I write songs I disregard what category it may or will fall into. My songs often can't be placed into specific categories.
I also produce other artists music. I play in other bands as well. I try to stay active in music as much as I can.
