"Star Scoop Interview"

THE STAR SCOOP:
We want to know about the projects you are working on currently! Give us the scoop.

MIKE FOY:
I recently guest starred on an episode of “CSI: NY” which aired on October 22nd playing the role of “Arnold Vonley.”

Also just wrapped a guest starring role on the new comedy TV series coming out called, “GLORY DAZE,” playing ‘Mullet’ which will air November 23rd. I worked with Kevin Nealon on that, so that was a great experience.

THE STAR SCOOP:
You were recently on Detroit 187 which is getting a lot of buzz right now. Why do you think the show is doing so well?

MIKE FOY:
Yes, that is a great show. I played “Speedy” on the second episode. Its doing well I think ‘cause it’s simply a quality show with some great actors on there. They’ve got a nice diverse cast and you don’t see that much on TV these days. They get some nice promotion on it as well so that helps and it’s even getting better as the season goes along.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Tell us more about “GhettoPhysics: Will the Real Pimps and Hos Please Stand Up?” – and how you got involved.

MIKE FOY:
I play “Marvin,” the class clown in the film portion of the project. It’s part documentary, part film or a docudrama…as they say. I got an audition actually from LACasting on that particular project and they loved me for the part, so we got into production with it about two weeks after the read or so. It’s doing well in limited release at the moment.

THE STAR SCOOP:
Why should people check it out and who will it appeal to?

MIKE FOY:
It’s a very thought provoking controversial film and most people who’ve already scene it are raving about it. Definitely a conversation sparker and it’s different from the normal films out. Plus, I’m in it so that helps. Get you a double dose of Marvin and watch it twice.

The title might suggest a more urban appeal, but I feel it appeals to everyone ‘cause it touches a lot on what’s going on today in politics and the world as well as the corporations people may work for.

THE STAR SCOOP:
What else do you want people to know about you?

MIKE FOY:
I’m also a rapper with a soon-to-be-released single titled, ‘High Road’ with a new album (which is my fourth) on the way, called “LEGENDARY.” You can check some of that out at www.skripturelive.com. Sign up and get updates on all my music and acting stuff. Thanks! - The Star Scoop

"Mike Foy Discusses "GhettoPhysics," Skripture and CSI: NY"

Mike Foy is inextricably tied to hip hop.

In fact, he's a lot closer to the genre than most of its chief purveyors. Starring in the gritty docudrama, GhettoPhysics: Will the Real Pimps and Hos Please Stand Up!, Foy injects main character Marvin with a sense of street truth. He gives Marvin an edge, making for a real slam dunk performance. As Skripture, he's also readying his official debut album, High Road, for release soon. It's an explosive and entrancing collection of gritty rap music that's infectious and invigorating. Plus, Foy brings that fire on his guest starring role on CSI: NY airing Friday October 22. The man is a triple-threat and he's ready to shake the game and the screen up…

Mike Foy sat down with ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino for an exclusive interview about GhettoPhysics: Will the Real Pimps and Hos Please Stand Up! [In New York and Los Angeles now], his song "Waited," the records that shaped him and so much more. - ArtistDirect.com

Bio

Skripture was born Mike Foy on December 23, 1981, Fort Campbell army base in Kentucky. He is the son of an army career father and a homemaker mother; he is one of four children. Because his father was in the military for over 20 years, he and his family moved frequently within the United States during his years of growing up. When his father retired, the family settled in Connecticut, where Mike spent most of his early years. At age 15, his family relocated to Tennessee; Mike attended high school and graduated.

In 1998, at age 16, he became very serious about his music and began recording; at 17 he was well known as "Skripture". He released his first album, "No Matter What You Might Say," and sold less than a thousand copies on the streets, in the high school, and to anyone else who would buy-all from the trunk of his car.

He takes a very personal approach with his music appealing to the masses the same way most of his Musical influences did which range from Tupac to LL Cool J to Eminem, Jay-Z and Nas.

Mike began attending Tennessee State University in 2001, majoring in Mass Communications. He then hit the ground running performing everywhere he could, which comprised of fraternity and sorority parties to opening up for the likes of T.I., Fabolous, J.T. Money, and Sean Paul. Freshman year he released his second LP, "Who Knew," and again sold copies from the trunk of his car and also by way of consignment. This time, however, he created his own brand called, Skrypt Entertainment, in order to market his product himself. For a few years, he was able to obtain air time on a radio show; his music was played and heard in a number of slots. In his senior year in college, he released his third album entitled, "Rumors," which sold several thousand copies. This was the album that would now establish him as a true artist in the hip-hop world within his geographic region. Performance shows began to be sold out and demand for Skripture grew. His talent and abilities expanded, as he directed the music video for his hit song, "I'm On Fire.”

Approximately 2005, Mike knew it was time to pack up and move to California to make an attempt of furthering his career. Arriving in Los Angeles, the homeless but ambitious rapper relied on his “hustler” mentality to get by.
Although landing gigs here and there, Mike wanted so much more. He linked with an acting manager to get rolling. He would now make the transferal to professional actor. Without any formal training and at his very first attempt, he was booked for his first acting audition, guest starring on the hit show, "The Shield,” of which he landed the part. This would serve as his acting debut. He was again fortunate enough to have one of his songs included in the episode’s music score, entitled “Interview Respek.” Mike later landed roles on other hit T.V. shows, which included "Heroes," "Prison Break," "Make It or Break It," and "The Forgotten." He could be seen in a few feature films as well. He is now known as a notable actor, landing several movie roles, starring in some and with smaller bit parts in others. He would again find his music being awarded as part of the soundtracks for 2 of the 4 films of which he appeared.

His latest and most notable accomplishments include his roles: “CSI Miami” (CBS), “CSI NY” (CBS), “Desperate Housewives” (ABC), “Legit” (FX), “Dexter” (Showtime), and “Justified” (FX), respectively. Mike has completed an EP, titled 'Still Standin' to be released soon. Recently released via YouTube and his internet website an original song and video, entitled, “Living in a World We Didn’t Make,” dedicated to the children and adults killed in the Newton, Connecticut, massacre. The project has special meaning to Mike, as Sandy Hook is near his home town.

He lives according to his own philosophy of life, stating: "In order to be truly successful, you have to be willing to sacrifice big time. Don't be scared to put it all on the line." He also believes that “Plan B is to try harder, that nobody is gonna hand you shit. Where one door may shut another could open just around the corner, so keep grinding.”

His main goal in the entertainment industry is longevity, being inspired by LL Cool J and Will Smith, whom Mike believes are models for success. Mike states that he “can’t see doing anything else.”
