Bio

Skull Face And Others play raging, queer-positive Newfie Power Violence.

Skull Face And Others formed in early 2003 from the remains of St. John's, Newfoundland's first power-violence band Zaprüder, playing short, fast, funny, grind-influenced songs with plenty of stop-starts and gang vocals. Beginning at a high point in the local all-ages scene, their shows at the infamous Riverdale Tennis Club routinely brought together several hundred kids in a disordely singalong. In 2004 they released a thirty song, thirty minute cassette entitled These Songs Go Off Like Torture.

The band - named after a book of short-stories by Robert E Howard - are heavily influenced by groups like Man Is The Bastard and Spazz, but also the satirical nihilism of local legends Da Slyme, and the macho theatrics of Manowar. Lyrical themes include bicycles, dumpsters, local mythology, and well-deserved apocalypse.

SFAO's members come from divergent musical backgrounds, with a host of other projects. These include vocalist Rodney Wall's punk-rock-and-roll Literally Gay, drummer Dan Galway's catchy, oversexed, old-school hardcore R U Phobic?, bassist Ben Jackson's noisy, melodic breakcore project Nonplus, and guitarist Curtis Kilfoy's indescribable, multi-instrumental Mopey Mumble Mouse.

Over time, as each of its members have begun taking on songwriting duties, Skull Face has added new elements to its sound, including cock-rock and sloppy prog.

Skull Face has played alongside bands such as Buried Inside, Misery Index, One Speed Bike, Under Pressure, Regulations, and Defect Defect. In 2007, Skull Face And Others released two seven inch records, one self titled, and another entitled We Are The Bike Crew. They are currently planning an Atlantic Canadian tour for Fall of 2007.
