Singer - songwriter Sky Covington was the winner of the " Outstanding Jazz Vocalist " honor at the 2016 Detroit Music Awards. It is her 6th music award in the past 5 years. Sky's growing popularity brought invitations to open for likes of P-Diddy, Thornetta Davis, Pieces of a Dream, Straight Ahead, Alberta Adams, The Original Vandellas, and a member of jazz greats OGD ( Perry Hughes, Gerard Gibbs & Gene Dunlap, and also touring with Detroit House music superstar Moody Man.
While Sky's momentum is building. It's her stage persona that strikes the audience. Though primarily known for jazz, Sky Covington spans multiple genres and has many trademark looks.
While Sky's in Detroit, she performs a weekly show at the Historic Baker's Keyboard Lounge with jazz greats OGD (Perry Hughes on Guitar, Gerard Gibbs on Organ & Gene Dunlap on Drums) also noted for her annual Billie Holiday Revue for the pass 16 years. You can find her performing in listening rooms , concert halls and music festivals year round.
