Sky Bound Blue

Sky Bound Blue is the duo Jenny and Matt Behnke based in Mcminnville Oregon. When you meet them you know instantly there is some kind of special mojo between these two. The chemistry that happens onstage is simply mesmerizing - the kind that only unwavering friendship can nurture.

The Behnkes play Americana music that's kind of like if the Civil Wars and Sugarland started a band then Sheryl Crow walked in and was like "mind if I sing a few?". The couple spent thirteen years in Nashville working with some of the city’s finest writers and players and have returned home to the Northwest to raise a family and continue honing their craft.

The couple met in Jazz choir at Spokane Falls Community College, fell instantly in love, then promptly quit school..cuz who needs school when you got love! They spent three summers on Guam, where Matt landed a gig diving for silver bullion on a 17th Century Spanish Galleon. Then, in 2000, they sold everything and sailed the Bahamas for a year: snorkeling, playing music, and making life-long friends. 

A year later their lives changed forever. Jenny was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Cancer remains the hardest thing the couple has ever endured together. Out of this experience came a sense of urgency to write and play music no matter what; life or death, they have to play music!

Sky Bound Blue’s songs reflect a playful wonder for what’s to come, hopefulness in the face of utter devastation and the unyielding bond they share with each other. Their musical goals remain simple: keep getting better, keep having fun, and stay inspired!
