Feeling a bit camera shy

SKY CHORD was formed in late November 2009 by the vocalist (Jessie Pretorius), gutarist (Hencas van Huyssteen) and keyboardist (Eric Strydom) when attending a rock show in their home town of Pretoria, South Africa. They agreed that music should be catchy without being slick, poppy without being pop, uplifting without being pompous and wanted to create a reaction against soulless rubbish.
So there it was, three CHARISMATIC visionaries who believe that the art of CLEVER music has no limits or bounds.

SKY CHORD was formed-

music cut from a different cloth.

They met at the Campus of Performing arts, where they were studying contemporary music. There were many aspiring rockstars keen to join but their choice was simple, the drummer would be Pieter Fourie, a dedicated, CREATIVE beatser. "I try to always create new and interesting elements to make the songs appealing to listen to." Pieter currently studies drumming at South African Music Institution along with classically trained guitarist,Hencas van Huyssteen. He states that he's approach towards his guitaring had to be unique to bring out the best flavour in each song and feels that good music always needs the space to breathe.

When talking about the sound, they wanted something to freshen up the scene, something with edge and flair, "His name is Eric Strydom (keyboard),he is most definately an intergral part of the band and sound we create" says Jessie Pretorius who writes and fronts the cart. Starting vocals at a very young age she's always known where her love lies,in her music.
"We as artists breathe music and simply cannot fuction without it!!"
Writing lyrics from the heart she created a powderkeg of affecting, personal, and explosive tunes to feature on their debut EP entitled "OH deer".Recently they have concentrated on making their songs melodic and fun to dance, jump, bob, and sing to.
They have branded themselves in a very 'different' way, by throwing in a suprise rave tune, obviously re-vamped and re-skychord-dified. People love this non-conventional approach to "doef-doef" music.

Only when working on "OH deer" in February of 2010,the COLOURFUL Marc Machetto was discovered! Coming from many different styles of music, this CAREFREE bassist knew right where to fit in and play every note to perfection.

Although SKY CHORD is influenced by bands such as Muse and SA band,Isochronous, they definitely appeal to a wide range of listeners and do not necessarily want to be tied to a specific genre.
