Bio
Formed in late 2003, Skycraft are ready to bring their own brand of rock to the masses. Shifting time signatures, intricate guitar work and sing/scream vocals by Tyler Petito and Tim Reid, and the airtight rhythm section of drummer Jonny Fuller and bassist Dan Thompson are all combined to create melodic yet forceful indie rock.
Though originally intending to play music along the lines of mid-90s bands like Texas Is The Reason and Sunny Day Real Estate, Skycraft have moved away from this considerably since their inception, abandoning previous aspirations to any specific "sound" and choosing instead to allow the style of the band to develop on its own. Combined with the rejection of traditional "verse-chorus-verse" song structure, this has lead to songs that demand the listener's attention. A song may go from a Strokes-ish dance number to a heavy change reminiscent of At The Drive-In to something jazzy like Karate, all while you went to get another beer.
Skycraft are currently playing shows all over Florida, and have played with national acts including Rainer Maria and Planes Mistaken For Stars. This summer they celebrated their first release--a split ep on Amateur Records, recorded by Rob McGregor at Goldentone Studios in Gainesville, Florida.
