A skinny twelve year old with long brown hair sits at a piano at Music Theory summer camp, thinking. Her assignment on this balmy August day, here at what she calls “Nerd Camp,” is to write her own song.

Something in her brain clicks. The skinny girl begins to sing. The notes fall behind the words. A song appears, as if out of thin air.

From that day on, country artist Skye Claire never stopped writing songs. Perhaps she never even had a choice. Songs spilled out into notebooks, were recorded into cell phones, called into answering machines. She taught herself to play guitar. The skinny girl turned into a determined, compelling singer/songwriter.

Skye played her first show at the Bitter End in New York City at age 16, After doing her time at Catholic High School and Wesleyan University, she made frequent appearances on stages in New York, Nashville, Paris, and Los Angeles, and set out on her first tour this past August, 2011, culminating in a successful show at the Hard Rock Nashville.

Fearless on her high notes and warmly resonant in her lower register, Skye has a voice to match her songwriting talent. Her stage presence shines, her voice soars, and her raucous live show has garnered attention both in New York and Nashville. This country artist is bound for success!

Now, after thousands of shows, hundreds of songs, and countless triumphs and disappointments, Skye Claire has reached the potential of the young artist that was born so long ago in that small rehearsal room. After garnering songwriting residencies at both Pianos and The Bitter End in New York, she has relocated to Nashville to make her name in country music.

Listen to Skye Claire. Criminals, lovers, drinkers and dreamers all find a voice in her songs.
