I Don't Want To Wait

Written By: Skylark (Kim Larking)

It's hard to come to grips with what I'm seeing
As my failure to fit in anywhere
And all the people in the world, they just don't want to care
It's taken me some time to build the courage up to now
But I just want to say these words somehow

Why does it feel so hard
And why do I feel so lost
I want to be someone special
Not wallowing in their dust
And I don't want to wait
But I have to wait until the perfect end comes into view
It's just a dream, but if I believe
One day perhaps I'll be with you

This world's so very beautiful
Sometimes it takes my breath away
I'm so wrapped up in jealousy
Because it never comes my way
I know you're just another normal guy without a clue
But I still want to say these words to you

Why does it feel so hard
And why do I feel so lost
I want to be someone special
Not wallowing in their dust
And I don't want to wait
But I have to wait until the perfect end comes into view
It's just a dream, but if I believe
One day perhaps I'll be with

It shouldn't mean so much to me
It's been my own philosophy
That it's the shy ones and the kind ones
Who are so often left behind
I don't really want to be
Caught up in their reality
I want to start again
I need a friend or someone to call my own

So why do I feel so lost?
I want to be someone special
Not wallowing in their dust
And I don't want to wait
But I have to wait until the perfect end comes into view
It's just a dream, but if I believe
One day perhaps I'll be with you

So why do I feel so lost
I want to be someone special
Not wallowing in their dust
And I don't want to wait
But I have to wait until the perfect end comes into view
It's just a dream, but if I believe
One day perhaps I'll be with you

Only Hope

Written By: Skylark (Kim Larking)

ONLY HOPE
by Kim Larking

There's no good way as to explain it
Found then lost, but to regain it
Might require a speciality
And though it's always there throughout the morning
Always leaves without a warning
Perhaps it's just my personality

And the whirlwind thousand miles away
Will waft a breeze until it fades
The teardrop on the blossom never shows
And while the butterfly flaps its wings
Across the world a cyclone springs
Onwards, ever hidden where it goes

'Cause it's all gone
Only hope that I'll attain what I can be

But it ended oh so suddenly
It threw me, tossed me to discard me
Only fragments there remain to see
But when the mountains are alive with sound
You'll know I've got it, that it's found
Still it isn't what it seems to be

Because it's all gone
Only hope that I'll attain what I can be

'Cause it's all gone
Only hope that I'll attain what I can be
Only hope that I'll attain what I can be

Stargazing

Written By: Skylark (Kim Larking)

There's a little town on a hill
I've never been there
It's too far away, far
Wanted to be where all the bright lights are
'Cos that's where all the people are
There's a cafe on the corner
Where I sit sipping my chai latte
This life of comfort seems so haunting
Compelling me, alluring me

About to lose my soul to something wrong
Stifling my spirit so I can't go on

I've come back and now I see
This isn't where I want to be
When I wake up in the morning I scream, scream
Stopped stargazing in the night
To blaze a trail with my own light
But now it's pouring in, it's pouring in

Looking back on old memories
There was a promise
There was a mystery
And someday adventure to be taken
Someday somehow somewhere
Underneath the stars in the night sky
I knew that magic was for real
But I am older now and I am still waiting for it
What has it come to now?

About to lose my soul to something wrong
How did I lose it?
What have I done?!

Oh, if only I were free
This isn't where I want to be
When I wake up in the morning I scream, scream
Stopped stargazing in the night
To blaze a trail with my own light
But now it's pouring in, it's pouring in

How did I come to be so stagnant
With so many days just the same
I can't see the stars from this place

And if only I were free
This isn't where I want to be
When I wake up in the morning I scream, scream
Stopped stargazing in the night
To blaze a trail with my own light
But now it's pouring in
It's pouring, pouring in

Oh, if only I were free
This isn't where I want to be
When I wake up in the morning I scream, scream
Stopped stargazing in the night
To blaze a trail with my own light
But now it's pouring in
It's pouring, pouring in

Hunter/Hunted

Written By: Skylark (Kim Larking)

I've seen her hiding in the light
The one imagining too clear
All the faces, gazes
Waits for strangers in the darkness to appear
She's like some frightened tiny child
She has some monsters in the dark
Disconnected, unprotected, undefended
She's alone

There is a name she doesn't know
She thinks it's following her home
So now she doesn't want to go
The pattern's slowly breaking down

And all the faces in the dark
Sense she's becoming something else
We see a girl about to turn
Hunter or hunted
So very late to let her break down
There's nothing we can do to stop her now

So now you're part of it
Her catastrophic, cataclysmic fight
She's draining light and love
To feed one pale, unconscious appetite
I've passed her by a million times
I've passed her unaware and blind
Was she once one of us
Or will she be
Or send us all to hell

Appraising all she can, she cries
Backed up and cornered in the light
Help isn't coming, dear, tonight
She mightn't ever make it home

And all the faces in the dark
Sense she's becoming something else
We see a girl about to turn
Hunter or hunted

And all the faces in the dark
Reach out, turn back and bend and bend
Her enigma
Her end

The hunter, the hunted, the faces in the dark
The hunter in the dark

And all the faces in the dark
And all the faces in the dark

And all the faces in the dark
Sense she's becoming something else
We see a girl about to turn
Hunter or hunted
So very late to let her break down
So very late to let her break down
There's nothing we can do to stop her now

The faces in the dark, the hunter in the dark...

I Don't Want To Love You

Written By: Skylark (Kim Larking)

It’s another heartache in a string of tears
I don’t know how much I can stand to lose
I don’t want this secret
I don’t want to lie
But I don’t think I’m ready for the truth

So listen to me, then tell me how I arrived
At a point that shouldn’t be true
I want to wake up with it all in my mind
I don’t want to love you
And I’m making it clear I’ve got a lot on my mind
There are other things I’d rather do
I don’t want my heart broken; I want to survive
I don’t want to love you

I’ve had enough of crying to last me all my life
I am ready for some strength to fill my bones
But with all your laughter
And with all your smiles
I am ready to cry again with hope

So listen to me then tell me how I arrived
At a point that shouldn’t be true
I want to wake up with it all in my mind
I don’t want to love you
And I’m making it clear I’ve got a lot on my mind
There are other things I’d rather do
I don’t want my heart broken; I want to survive
I don’t want to love you

But I do and it’s making me unhappy
I’m afraid that you’ll only run away
I don’t know how anybody couldn’t feel this way
When they see you and they hear the things you say

It’s just another heartache in a string of tears
I don’t know how much I can stand to lose
I don’t want this secret
I don’t want to lie
But I don’t think I’m ready for the truth

So listen to me then tell me how I arrived
At a point that shouldn’t be true
I want to wake up with it all in my mind
I don’t want to love you
And I’m making it clear I’ve got a lot on my mind
There are other things I’d rather do
I don’t want my heart broken; I want to survive
I don’t want to love you
No, I don’t want to love you but I do

Beautiful Night

Written By: Skylark (Kim Larking)

Beautiful Night

What a beautiful night
The stars are falling like ice
This is the end of the world
The world has ended tonight
We’re in the eye of the storm
Or on the back of a great wave
We can do nothing at all
Nothing to do but to wait

And at the end of time
I want some time with you
There’s nothing more you or I
Or anyone can do

What a beautiful night
The sea is frozen in time
We’re at the end of the earth
And it’s an ocean of white
We’re back to how we began
Let’s turn our backs on the hard times
This is the end of the world
Don’t need to worry tonight

And at the end of space
I’ll share my place with you
There’s nothing more you or I
Or anyone can do

Your Choice

Written By: Skylark (Kim Larking)

If you ruled my heart
I would stage a state rebellion
If you held my mind
I would hunt you far and wide
You don’t know my life
Put your judgement on someone else
I won’t take your side
Nothing gives you that right

It was your choice
You chose to throw it away
And now I hate
Everything you stand for

If you want my trust
I require for you to prove it
If you need my love
I really think you’re wasting your time
You don’t want my soul
If I have one that can be freed
You just seek control
And get your kicks when I bleed

It was your choice
You chose to throw it away
And now I say
I’ll never give it to you again

It was your choice
You chose to throw it away
And now I hate
Everything you stand for

Like You Once Did Before

Written By: Skylark (Kim Larking)

You know, I’ll speak to you one day
About the talent you displayed
At your old band’s last concert for a while
I’ll ask you why you ceased to dream
You seem content to be unseen
With all that rare potential gone to waste

You were the best I’d ever known
Ready to let your music go
Escape back to the wild from whence it came
And if I do not intervene
You might be fixing old machines
Or something else that doesn’t suit you well

So why don’t you let me restore you
To everything you should be
I don’t really think you’d be happy
If I let you walk away from your own dream

I’m fighting for that spark of life
Before it gutters out and dies
And leaves you with vague senses of regret
Oh when you played it made me cry
Brought hidden teardrops to my eyes
This world needs more of you but you won’t give it

So why don’t you let me restore you
To play like you once did before
I’ll write for you, sing for you, let me inspire you
For I won’t let your music go once more

Bring it back like you once did before X4

So why don’t you let me restore you
To play like you did long ago
Another life won’t give you justice
Only in music you will find your soul

So why don’t you let me restore you
To play like you once did before
I’ll write for you, sing for you, let me inspire you
For I won’t let your music go once more

Nothing To Say

Written By: Skylark (Kim Larking)

Choreograph me a movie
Make me a song of your life
I want a tale and a story
I need to know you’re all right
Speak of the places you’ve been to
Talk of your place out of home
Is it for real, how do you feel?
Tell me where you want to go!

Tell of the world that you live in
Paint me a day in your style
I promise always to listen
‘Cause I like your voice and your smile
Curious, classic and carefree
Say that you live like a king
If it’s a lie, then don’t tell me why
Just make it sound interesting!

Tell me all about it
Keep me learning more
Even when hey, when there’s nothing to say
Tell me anything good at all!

Give me a good conversation
Laugh at the world in your hands
I like a clear explanation
And smile to know you understand
Driving me up the wall crazy
Crazy like I’ve never been
So spin me a line, and I’ll fly across time
To places that I’ve only dreamed!

Tell me all about it, etc...
