"We Love Austin Rock Act, Skyline"

Named with the Austin skyline in mind, local rock band Skyline’s latest release Good Days is a ten song LP that will get locals excited for another up-and-coming band that absolutely rocks.

Formed in Austin in 2012, the band has been gaining an international following, particularly in the U.K. The band will also appear in the upcoming music documentary Music On the Road, which focuses on music genres throughout the country. Naturally, the directors spent significant time in Austin, even if our status as “Live Music Capital of the World” is in question of late.

Opening with the song “Drag Down,” front woman Pearl Turner’s fearless and punchy vocals remind of us such acts as Janis Joplin, Wolfmother, and Rival Sons. Her voice is just the tip of the spear for the hard-hitting rock act, too. They follow it with “Dr. House,” a song that really showcases the band’s sound, with guitarist Nate West playing an indelible hook that will get stuck in your head.

“Home,” another track worth discussing, is a bouncy anthem that embodies the image of tough female vocalist. It’s as if Skyline is giving women in the music industry a not-so-subtle push to get up on stage and perform without fear of failure or rejection.

By the time Good Days closes with the cut “White Dress,” an unusually strong finale, most listeners will understand why Skyline’s following just seems to keep growing. If this is any indication of where they are headed, you’re guaranteed to hear more of Skyline in the years to come.

"Skyline Rock Their Hometown at SXSW and Release Debut Album"

Skyline is a young rock band from Austin, TX who we first met at last year’s SXSW. This year, they came back with their debut “Good Days” in the bag, a record full of raw, blues-infused rock ruled by Pearl Turner’s powerhouse vocals and Nate West’s guitar chops.

“Good Days” is out now. Listen to the album on Apple Music or Spotify.

Bio

Skyline is an exciting, young, hard-rocking blues band from Austin, Texas.  The band name conjures the image of the familiar and ever-growing skyline of an iconic music town, but also points toward a very bright horizon.  This band just makes you fall in love with rock and roll, all over again.  The music is old, it's new, it has the power to last forever.  And Skyline does it right, right now.

Built upon the foundation of an aggressive kick-ass rhythm section, with searing, bluesy guitar work, and impressively solid vocals, Skyline's original material hints at classic and current influences, from Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and Janis Joplin to Soundgarden, Wolfmother, and Rival Sons.

Founding members Maxx Mercer (drums) and Nate West (guitar) have been making music together in various band combinations since their even more youthful Rock Camp days in 2012.  With the eventual addition of Pearl Turner (vocals) in 2014, and Lucas Wayne Ray (bass) in 2016, these combined forces created the perfect chemistry.  Their sophisticated blending and mastery of classic and new music continues to bring together a devoted, diverse, all-ages following.

Skyline's fervent fan base helped the group successfully raise the funds needed to record their recently released debut album, "Good Days", with Grammy-nominated producer Chris "Frenchie" Smith.  Numerous songs from the album have received airplay on radio stations in Austin, and various other stations in the U.S., and in the United Kingdom.

Skyline has opened for Ian Moore and The Lossy Coils, Carolyn Wonderland, and A.J. Vallejo and they perform regularly in their hometown at various venues and festivals.  The band wowed audiences at SXSW in unofficial showcases in 2015, and was invited back as official artists in 2016.

Recently, Skyline was chosen by French film makers, Yoann Le Gruiec and Benoit Pergent, to represent Austin, Texas, as part of Music On The Road, a new music documentary highlighting multiple music genres in cities throughout the US, including New York, Detroit, Chicago, Memphis, New Orleans, Austin, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.  Filming in Austin will took place in June, 2016 and will release Summer of 2017.

Oliver Bouchard of GlamGlare said in March, 2016, "Skyline is a young rock band from Austin, TX who we first met at last year’s SXSW. This year, they came back with their debut “Good Days” in the bag, a record full of raw, blues-infused rock ruled by Pearl Turner’s powerhouse vocals and Nate West’s guitar chops."

The Hit List, April 2016, listed "Good Days" as an "Album You Need to Hear Right Now", and 1001 Records gave the album a 5 star rating as a recommended album for June 2016.

Skyline looks forward to touring in the summer and fall of 2016, in support of their debut album, and continue to perform and write new, original material.

Skyline's music can be accessed on Itunes, Spotify, Bandcamp, Pandora, Amazon, Reverbnation and soundcloud.
