Bio

"Life can only be understood backwards, but must be lived forwards." Singer/songwriter Philip Penalosa, Vocalist Preeya Khanna, guitarist Lorenzo Torre, bass player Andrea Riccio and drummer Gianni Farruggia second that motion, being as they have embarked on a musical journey that has intertwined fleeting bits of rapture with their individualistic creative forces. This Montreal-based quintet, dubbed Skynight Dialogue, came about in the fall of 2004, when childhood friends and musicians Andrea, Lorenzo, and Gianni discovered local Singer/songwriter Phil Penalosa at Dawson College. There was immediate chemistry between the four as Phil brought forth newfound soul and emotionally charged vocal charisma that the band had been lacking. From then on, their musical baby was born. With careful progression and frequent jam sessions, the four found themselves writing songs as an outlet for their individualism. It soon became clear that their musical project was going have to take on a different identity if it had any likelihood of pushing the envelope and making its mark on humanity. In the Spring of 2005, with the addition of vocalist Preeya Khanna, Skynight Dialogue had finally blossomed. Her beauty, along with her resonance and captivating vocal phrasings were enough to give this musical baby the buoyancy it needed to get up on their feet and walk. As the five grew closer as friends and musicians, the band began to progress in new directions. The presence of female hormones within the band had sparked a dormant creative edge and the band began writing songs at a surprisingly rapid pace. With their first summer show on the way, Skynight Dialogue had effortlessly put together a twenty-minute set comprised of original material that managed to draw the attention of 200 spectators at the annual Montreal Dragon Boat races. With immediate stupor expressed by the audience, it was clear that Skynight Dialogue had stumbled upon something that would define themselves for the rest of their life. The band soon began to take things more seriously and strictly concentrated on songwriting, with the hopes of plunging deeper into the depths of music and further expanding their musical repertoire. Skynight Dialogue is fairly new to the Montreal music scene, but has managed to play the occasional show at local venues such as: Kola Note, O Patros Vys, and Hard Rock Cafe, in hopes of getting their name out to the masses. Like all good stories, this one comes to a crossroad - and these five individuals must overcome certain financial burdens and vocational tensions that plague all bands. Skynight Dialogue hopes to cross these troublesome boundaries and pick up corporal recognition in order to keep their musical baby on its feet. "Life does not give second chances," states the band, and are prepared to face the thick and the thin to show "how far theyve come to prove who they are."
