Bio

Sky Police was formed on a hot summer day at the annual Californian Red Marines music festival in 2007. While playing songs at the festival, Sky Police, masterminded by Boris Polissky – vocals, guitars and keyboards-gave birth to the idea that one could hold in their hands, an LP. As with the creation of all good music, time and some help was needed. With his close friends, many of whom have been successful in their own musical careers (conducting orchestras all over the world, and playing drums for thousands of people at Rock En Espanol shows, playing bass for some of the most well-known Russian bands) Boris mixed a vivid blend of mainstream pop/rock with an edgy twist.

At the very start, the goal was to create a full musical experience where no aspect of songwriting and production is sacrificed. Growing up with bands like Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Queen and inspired by contemporary artists like Jeff Buckley and John Mayer, Sky Police’s debut LP, Entangled (released in March 2013 on Interval Records), is an eclectic pop/rock album. The record cleverly integrates thumping drums and rich bass, grungy and sweet guitars, buzzing synthesizers, lush string arrangements and harmonies that meet a personal singer/songwriter searching, visual, thoughtful and, at times, poetic lyrics. “A good song is like a captivating film,” Boris says. “You take the listener for a ride, connect with them, make them genuinely feel and along the way, you throw in a few surprises.”

While working on their debut album, Sky Police was involved in several diverse projects. Most notably, writing and producing music for a film titled, La Historia de Cesar Milstein, the recipient of the Argentinian Academy’s Best Documentary Award in 2010 (Argentinian equivalent of receiving an Oscar at the Academy Awards).
From performing at acoustic café gigs to full band shows, Sky Police is emotional, energetic, and a sincere band. Sky Police has also become a regular host and performer at a popular rock venue in San Francisco – Neck of the Woods.

Their flirty and upbeat single, “Baby, Let’s Get Married” has been played on California radio stations, as well as, international online radio. With a title like that, one would think it’s a romantic song about getting married. Close attention to the lyrics, however, reveals that it’s a sweet song about a doomed relationship through the eyes of a disillusioned lover.
